If I enjoyed
>Gothic 3
>Risen 1, 2 and 3
Will I enjoy this? Also can I get more reccomendations for game similar to those?

Yes.

Some jaded anons who only play AAA shit will come in this thread and tell you the game is trash, but ignore them. This is one of my favourite games this gen, the world is so fun to explore and obviously you aren't put off by some janky combat. Just bear in mind early game you will get your shit slapped hard. The best thing to do is get some quests done but dodge a lot of the enemies you encounter until you level up a bit.

If you enjoyed Gothic 3 you should give Elex a try, since it suffers from similar problems.

I wish I could get Gothic 3 to work on my machine.
It just starts up and I can't use the mouse. It works in menus, but I can't turn my character at all.
I know there are community fixes, but I wanted to experience it in its old, buggy, imbalanced glory.

NOTR > G1 > G2 Vanilla > Risen 1 > G3 (patched to hell) > Elex > Risen 3 > Risen 2

Why is Eurojank so full of soul?

Ît's a baffling game that in terms of game mechanics, HUD/stats and combat is horrendous beyond believe to the point where you wonder if the devs even played an RPG ever before in their lives.
And yet the world and all the little details, the exploration aspect, the quests, the clunky yet somehow charming characters and more make it surprisingly enjoyable.

they prioritize world building over gameplay

Depends. but in PB's case their games would be nothing without the well placed handcrafted maps.
Without them I would barely touch these games.

I played and absolutely loved Gothic 2 NotR. Tried getting into Gothic 1, but the controls are extremely clunky. Is it worth installing fixes that make it play more like G2?

fucking loved Elex, best world design in an open world RPG this generation
cant wait for the Elex 2 announcement at gamescom in a month

Can you buy a complete version of this anywhere or are they still churning out DLC?
I don't buy incomplete games.

I hope you're right, but what makes you so sure they're announcing the sequel then?

Yup, Elex is on par with Risen 1, maybe even better.
Play the first two Gothic games if you haven't already, they're peak Piranha Bytes. (and if you have played them, why the hell didn't you enjoy them?)

Wait if I enjoyed Gothic 1-2, and Risen, but not Gothic 3? Also how good is the story compared to other Piranha Bytes games?

>Wait if I enjoyed Gothic 1-2, and Risen, but not Gothic 3?
That's pretty normal here. I'm one of the few in PB threads that actually enjoyed Gothic 3 to a degree, I always keep telling myself to just look at it as another RPG instead of another Gothic game, standards drop considerably then.

The problem with Elex is that the content spreads really thin the further you move away from the starting area. They clearly didn't have the time to fill the entire world with life, similar to how things were in Gothic 3. Combat is also pretty janky, quite comparable to Gothic 3, which was also jankier than Gothic 1 and 2. The plot is nothing special but functional enough. If you want to play a new Gothic-like game, while being able to stomach the weaknesses of Gothic 3, then Elex is probably your best bet.

Gothic 2 >= Gothic 1 > Risen 1 > Elex > Gothic 3 > Risen 3 > flaming garbage > Risen 2

>Gothic 3
You could play anything at that point and like it.

Yes, you'll still enjoy ELEX. It has the same ball busting difficulty as Gothic 1 & 2, just in a larger open world a la Gothic 3. It combines the best of both worlds, as in despite being open world it's still hand crafted with areas full of mooks that will hard counter you until you get better armor and weapons. It's not quite at the same level of quality as, say, G1+2 and R1, but it's definitely the best PB game since them. The story isn't exactly interesting as per usual, but the setting is nice and some of the characters are fun. Jax is in classic PB fashion a hilarious deadpan with a 11/10 VA delivery.

Acceptable opinion.

>I enjoyed risen 2
If you enjoy eating dog shit you might enjoy anything so sure.
And I say it as someone who's gothic is his favourite series and enjoyed elex.

Risen 2 is really fucking awful, Risen 3 fixes a lot of its issues but doesn't make the cut to Risen 1 quality, it's good a good world though, had plenty of fun with it.

Elex is the best PB game since G2NOTR, comparable to Risen 1 but IMO better.

I'm okay with this.

I finished ELEX before they added the updated that included Alb armor. Is it worth going back to replay the game just to use it? Is it end game viable? Always wanted the choice to rejoin the Albs rather than pick one of the 3 other factions.

You can join the Hybrid but you have to choose one of three factions regardless. The choice is when you get to him so endgame anyway. And you have to go max cold for that.

IIRC you get the best Alb armor like two minutes before the ending and by the time you get the weaker one you most likely are already overpowered, anyway, to the point where armor doesn't really matter anymore.

Ah, that's a shame. Hopefully PB will make Albs a properly joinable faction in ELEX 2.

disable all HID under USB in device manager, thank me later
