People fucking threw shit fits. Not as much as they did with raiden but still, if MGS4 had mid thirties Snake it might have changed people's minds about the entire game. I can't be sure of that though, I never played it because snake is old.

Pre-release, most people thought the idea was really odd, but the super future tech in game and the promise of next-gen graphics, everyone was hopeful.
After it came out, and everyone learned it was like a wierd clone thing that made him rapidly age, everyone thought it was even wierder. I know his old man ass was a joke for a while. Other than that, tons of people dropped the gane due to the cut scenes being so long. I knew some guys that legitimately liked it at the the time, but the cut scene thing was an issue. Old man snake never had any sticking power

What I really remember about MGS4 though? The day videos of the ending leaked. The front page was PERPETUALLY filled with threads with screencaps of Big Boss at the graveyard as the OP.

Really liked this game. Suprised some people didn't know this would happen since Liquid directly eludes to it in MGS2, but the whole thing felt so depressing in a good kino way but a bad "I hate this for Snake" way. Especially seeing him almost disintegrate throughout the game with the 'Love' theme making it depressing as all hell

The trailer was so fucking sweet where he only has one bullet and otacon shows up. Then you play that part of the game and you've hundreds of bullets and can sneak through easily.
