Tell me the difference between a JRPG and a WRPG by describing their game mechanics. Is Dark Souls a WRPG or a JRPG? Mechanically I would describe it as a WRPG, but it was made in Japan. Is Anachronox a WRPG or a JRPG? Mechanicslly it plays like a JRPG, but it was made in the west. Wizardry was made in the West while something like Etrian Odyssey is Japanese, is one a JRPG and the other a WRPG despite sharing the same mechanics?

Any actual character development within the game will be cursory and surface level at best. The design was made first, and then the character was built around it.
