Did you own one of these? If yes, what did you think of it? I owned one and thought it had great games and it would've been a great general purpose media device if it could play blu-rays

I was one of those people who legitimately thought it was a wii tablet 2 years or more after it's release.

Splatoon when it was still getting updates was kino

I have one. It's great if you hack it. Basically all of the Wii's homebrew plus the ability to play WiiU game backups.
It's honestly a much better console than the Switch. I'm still pissed Nintendo abandoned it.

Besides Pikmin 3, what hasn't already been ported to the Switch/another platform? Even Wonderful 101 managed to escape WiiU's hell.

I liked the Wii U. Gamepad was a stupid gimmick, but generally optional, and it had a very solid library of games, once it got going. Wish people had actually bought it, so the Switch didn't have to exist at all, and I didn't have to buy another console of middling technical advancement, just so I can play Mario Odyssey and Astral Chain.

I owned one since launch and it was pretty neat. Loved NintendoLand, Splatoon and DKCTF.
Too bad it was a concept doomed to fail :
>so hopelessly underpowered it had no hope of getting multiplats
>doesn't look appealing straight away so normalfags won't buy it
>control scheme is not markettable
R.I.P.

Mario 3D World, which is a shockingly underrated Mario game, because everyone was like "lol cats", and didn't play it.

>Besides Pikmin 3, what hasn't already been ported to the Switch/another platform?
NintendoLand
Star Fox Zero

Oh, and Starfox Zero, which is really game that's begging for a second chance, with a few fixes.

I had one

too many platformers, ended its life with absolute shovelware but I enjoyed a handful of its games (splatoon, pikmin 3, tropical freeze, bayo 2 and xeno x)

Is online still up?

This is the best emulation box you can get.

Nes, SNES, Sega genesis, Sega master system, N64, ps1, gb, gbc, gba, Nintendo DS (tablet is the bottom screen), GameCube, wii.

Pretty incredible that it can do DS games

Yes. It also works with pirated games, surprisingly.

If I was to mod mine now, what are the chances of Nintendo releasing a surprise patch and fucking me over?

0% they don't give a fuck about the wiiu

Didn't they drop one about a year ago though?

Yes.
It was an underpowered system with no games and a gimmick controller with a crap quality screen I'd never want to use.

Xenoblade Chronicles X
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Game & Wario

I loved it. I don't care what autists say about it. Bought it day one and still love it to this day. It had great games, but shitty marketing so it sold poorly which caused 3rd parties to almost completely ignore it dooming it to being the comfiest first party machine Nintendo ever created. I consider it to be a work of art. If you like the Switch, you just like the Wii U redesigned for normie sensibilities and a lack of nintendium.

It's possible to block updates with a specific DNS, it's stupid easy to hack a wii u

It had the best Netflix interface of any device until they fucked that one up and replaced it with the same shitty interface the other consoles have.

I only buy Nintendo consoles as Smash Bros machines. It might sound like a waste of money, but I've definitely played each Smash Bros game for long enough to justify the cost. XBX was a nice bonus. Didn't play anything else.

I had the LOZ edition WIIU that was released along with the Wind Waker HD remake.

It was a pretty decent console with some fun games, but to be honest the best games were the ones that didn't really make you use the huge tablet controller.

It was definitely a weird console. Not powerful enough to get ports of a lot of other PS4 or Xbone games, so it was overwhelmingly first party Nintendo games which isn't necessarily bad.

Had a lot of fun with various Mario games, Mario Kart 8 was fucking dope. Wind Waker HD was GOAT. Not to mention this console was when they introduced the Pro controller which is one of the best controllers ever invented.

Going from Wii to WiiU to Switch, I have absolutely no idea what Nintendo is going to come up with for their next console.

SwitchU?

Also Medli a best

Awesome. Yoshis wooly world is amazing and is meant to be played on this. Such an underrated game with a 10/10 soundtrack.

Had one, I liked it a lot especially the first party games, stopped playing it for a while, found out you could mod it, never bought a single thing for it again because piracy

What's the Nintendo blocking DNS these days, if someone has it

I bought one for cheap after it was discontinued. It’s pretty good, I’ve been using it for gamecube games

WW/TP HD. I would like a truly portable version of these though

I liked more games on it than the Wii despite having a miserable library

If I hack a wii u will potential future resale value go down?
I'm not desperate for cash but I'm just thinking given how it barely sold I could probably flip it a few years down the line, I have literally not done any research into this idea just a thought I've had once or twice.
I'll probably still hack it, emulating nintendo stuff feels weird on laptop/pc and sub-optimal at times.

its not really going to be priced much highert han like $300 at best. go take a look at how cheap wonderswans and gamecubes are. For it to go up in price, there has to be actual demand for it. If you hack it, I don't see any reason why it would go down in price though.

it makes me ask why the fuck did people not care about this when it shares 90% of the good library with switch and switch is really a wii u port machine

A mix of shitty name + lack of titles such as animal crossing i'd wager

There's custom firmware that isn't permanent.
