Liking MML means you were a literal kid when it came out, which effectively makes you a zoomzoom.
I bought this game when I was like 14 back in the day because I fucking loved MMX, only to return it and get the Megaman Collection instead. Even for the time this game played like shit and only literal children cared more about the pretty graphics and the story.
BN is an example of an spinoff primarily targeted towards kids that still manages to be a great game on its own and in contrast to the series it belongs to. Legends is just shit.

Lots of hate for Mega Man Legends ITT and I can see why. As a Mega Man game it really sucks: a completely linear game with very little platforming, very non threatening enemies, few and uninteresting boss fights and bad controls. It is a Mega Man game in name only and I feel if the graphics were different people wouldn't be so kind to it.

It's true though. Visuals might be neat, but there's nothing 'soul' about shit controls.

Nostalgia goggles or not, I played the dog shit out of this game as a kid and I remember the time I had with it fondly. The controls were a pain in my dick, yeah, but I also just played games to have fun. Crazy how much of an impact that has.

I'll admit that I like megaman legends, but to be honest, legends one is like ZOE 1. Both were overshadowed by their superior squeal, and for good reason.

I think a lot of people who like MML (me included) aren't really big on the original megaman games.
We're kinda like what Persona fans from 3 onwards are to the SMT fanbase.
Personally I played some of the X games when I was a kid, but MML is the one that really grabbed my attention when I got older and started looking back at 5th gen gaming.

I liked this game because it has lots of "lovely useless elements." I enjoyed completing all the secret side quests, opening up all the dungeon connections and getting the treasures, and experimenting with all the different weapons. Seeing the disabled girl at the end of the game walk or not depending on your actions left a big impression on me.

This. OG Megaman was great at the time, but once you've played one of the classics, you've basically played them all. Legends was way more creative and interesting (to me at least)

I always thought Megaman Legends was the case of "it so bad it's good" videogame.
I remember how fucking boring the combat was, beside fighting a boss, that was fine for the most part.
I don't know what this game has, but despite the flaws, I still enjoy playing it from time to time.
