I think it shouldnt have had games past CD, it doesnt work on 3D and its one trick in 2D can only be remade so many times, at least megaman has different weapons, at least mario gets different powerups, sonic is exactly the same since the first game to mania not a single change or innovation to gameplay whatsoever, it was a gimmick a fun gimmick but it should have not survived for so long

Female characters were a mistake in this series.
Back in my day, Sonic the hedgehog was about the unbreakable power of friendship between brothers in arms, going against a tyrannical maniac that wanted to enslave all that is living for his own gain.
It was a tale of pain and suffering, and struggling through it with your comrades.
Some of which fell victims to the tyrant's charm, and started to fight along side of him after having been brainwashed and manipulated, such as Knuckles.
Others were programmed by him to fulfill his goal, but only to reprogram themselves and break the barriers of intelligence in order to protect and save their brothers, such as E-102 Gamma.
The introduction of female characters has replaced the depth of struggle and sacrifices made by brothers in arms in order to reach a noble goal, with meek and shallow view that depends on looks to determine what is right and wrong, instead of actions and words.
The series is what had awakened my desire to save the world from evil, but only for it to manifest evil in it self by turning into a festering place for all that is against what it stood and fought for.
The pain of this realization still burns my heart even 16 years later, but the lesson i had learned is burned into my mind and will not go in vain.
I have learned from history, and with me, history shall not repeat.

Probably a reboot with essentially a new dev team and new head of the Sonic brand. Reestablish characters and setting and stick to it. No more "two worlds" style of crap or whatever is going on with Shadow's personality change recently.

Franchise can't be fixed. The series has been rebooted a million times now and another one won't fix that. They can at the very least salvage the reputation of the franchise by making a main game where both Sonic and Tails are playable to readjust to 3D but that will never happen

People want to like the franchise but all they keep putting out shit

Hire new blood for ST and kick Iizuka and the forces director out, go back to the old days and have a western/eastern mixed team and a bigger budget (pretty sure segasammy pulled funding). There now well have at least GOOD games even if they aren't GREAT or AMAZING. Just more consistent quality. No more boostshit, expand on the parkour from Lost World and make it a 3D platformer again

Disband Sonic Team and licence the games out to other devs. Take more fan games and make them official for easy money and good PR. Make season 3 of Sonic Boom or a cartoon with a similar sense of humor.

As much as I like Boom I would rather get a somewhat serious anime that isnt super low budget and more sonic-y. Trigger would probably do it since they're cheap (they have a damn patreon and the wayfoward was able to get them). Itd be at least way above Sonic X
