Nyarlathotep makes a bet with Philemon that humanity will destroy the world, and then starts talking to a guy in order to make a fake Mayan prophecy involving an alien spaceship underneath Japan.
Said guy then forms a group dedicated to stealing people's hopes and dreams and sealing them into skulls to raise the Mayan spaceship. Then Nyarlathotep revives Hitler and has Hitler steal the skulls and raise the ship himself so he can take over the world.
Then everyone dies and Philemon says "fuck it, I'm making a new world" and shoves everyone but the main character into it.
Eternal Punishment is in the new world, where a reporter and a cop team up with a guy pretending to be Chinese and the reporter's roommate to fight Nyarlathotep in the new world, and basically the same plot happens only instead of Hitler it's the "New World Order" lead by the father of the guy who spawned the fake Mayan prophecy in the last game.

And your party is made out of a really determined police officer, a cute happy-go-lucky journalist, her boxer roommate, a mysterious extortionist that is connected to the mafia and a teenager from another dimension that is the police officer's brother

It's just a regular turn based system. Just a very slow system. I wish there was a way to speed up. It's mind boggling how every SMT up until then had some really snappy combat and then Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment fucks it up.

Persona has a regular turn base system, that has existed for like 30 years, and still exists.
The only thing they have different it the Contact command system or whatever it was called, to get items for personas. A system that was really simplified from IS to EP
