I can't listen to FF9 OST ''outside'' of the game itself. Take one example;

This track is perfect in the game, but I can't listen to it in Winamp, YT or whaever I'm using these days. (weird, huh)
That doesn't mean that FF9 OST is shit. It has some great tracks (Evil Forest, Cleyra's Trunk, Daughter of Madain Sari, Esto Gaza, and a personal favorite, Kingdom of Burmecia, which is a fucking masterpiece if you ask me), but I just love 10 more. The soundtrack. The actual game, not that much.

I want to replay FF12 again, but I don't know. How to make the combat interesting? I already played with only ''Attack Enemy > Nearest Visible'' gambit, manual spell casting and no items usage, but it was still easy.
True, it was vanilla, not Zodiac version.

Always thought it was weird how much shit this game gets, it has the best gameplay mechanics and its the most fun.

The story isnt even that bad honestly, the background events like the different factions that splintered off after Sins defeat and all the sidequests were great.

I'm playing it right now, I'm starting act 2 and it looks like the story has potential and the atmosphere is lighter and sillier than in FF10 to not be too repetitive, did fans as a whole really shit on the game that much just for the story at the time, or was it a bunch of insecure guys in the West thinking that listening to jpop for 3 minutes was emasculating? How did Japan react to FF10-2 at the time?

From what I remember Japan loved it because it is admittedly very weeby, so yeah like you said it made Western normies uncomfortable. Im assuming 95% of the haters have never actually played it, since they tend to only ever make fun of the opening cutscene.
