Was Halo's fall from the top a result of incompetence, or was it always destined to fall out of relevance?

It was a perfect trilogy that needed no continuation. Doubly so when the inheritors hated the fucking franchise.
I believe incompetence
It was just about falling out of relevance but Reach was very popular with the up coming generation. Bungie was shafted soon after though so we would never know if it would have "naturally" died.
You could say 343's shit games were a decline, BUT it didn't quite kill the popularity of the series entirely. The old Bungie games are so good and people have enough passion for them to continue playing them, especially with the recent release of MCC on PC.
What a dumb fucking question. Of course 343 is at fault for making shitty games. You're a dumb faggot OP.
incompetence, call of duty is still going strong and Halo started bigger
It is truly a mystery only Clouseau could solve.
Use a better image for the top left, that image is from a pre-release Halo 3 PC build where the viewmodel is fucked.
I'm still going to purchase Halo: Infinite.
PBR was a mistake
What was Tartaruses major malfunction?
youtube.com
Reach sucked
halo 3 sure liked bloom
This. Didnt feel anything like Halo.
It's the first one
Definitely
Rule #1 of the game industry, "Make a good game". They couldn't do rule #1, so they faded.
and people say soul v soulless isnt real
Halo's roots in classic arena shooters meant it was never going to stay on top, but it still could have at least maintained relevancy. Desperately chasing trends was what killed it.
Is all this sonibrony damage control just their usual behavior, or are they really scared this time?
Halo was never meant to compete with the sheer mass appeal that Call of Duty had with the braindead audience. The poor implementation of some systems in Reach, and the absolutely disastrous management of the franchise post 2012 only accelerated the process.
It’s funny since the 343 teams means jack shit when they put source 80% of the work to code monkeys. I’ve just started looking into it and their incompetence is pretty astounding
>you must be a snoyboy if you hate 343i
I reject your false dichotomy.
Whose fault do you think that is? Do you think the company runs itself or that are two, very specific retards who have mismanaged the company to the ground?
>management means jack shit
What? Who do you think makes the penny-pinching choice of hiring by-the-hour contractors?
The management is completely out of touch and disconnected from reality
Bottom left:
>Men, women, white, hispanic, like one black guy
Bottom right:
>100% white women and like one asian
Bungie was more diverse than LGBTQM+ 343 ever was kek
>from the top
lmao
And that's why Bungie was based. They made good games and were truly diverse, while 343i only has a handful of minorities that tout around like merchandise.
Halo fell because 343i is total shit at writing stories.
You're a shill because you are implying Halo 4 and 5 aren't total irredeemable trash.
Why do you people keep saying this? You're the third person I've seen.
Like half of those "women" are asian. Open your fucking eyes. Unless... wait... You're not Asian, are you?
>the covenant are back after like 2 weeks
>and this time they're called the covenant STORM
What was the new covenant's motivation again?
I'm too lazy and jaded to read some wiki
343 had some clear direction like focusing on the forerunners
but somehow they consistently execute there ideas terribly lame.
Anything can work if you give it to the right people, this is just met the same fate as 99% of every other brand
Normies hate sci-fi and fantasy. Halo was only on top because it was first. Western markets prefer sport and semi-realistic action games. Hence why fifa and cod have been on top for the last 12 years.
>storm
this actually rustles my jimmies because it has absolutely nothing to do with the biblical naming convention of the covenant/flood/etc
