1-2

Doesn’t matter. Just play Sonic 2 and Mania for the classic games, Adventure 1, and Generations. If you like any of those just branch out into other games of the same style.

Maybe for memory's sake but you can't be serious.

This, I’d say that you should choose one of three gameplay styles. Classic, Adventure, or Boost.

If you want classic, start with mania. I only say this because the 16:9 screen ratio is really good and beginners will appreciate it more than the 4:3 in the classics.

If you want adventure do SA2, it’s a little bit more accessible than the first.

If you want boost, do generations. It’s the game that did boost best, and there’s no filler warehog/OC stages.

Sonic has more bad games than good
I'm sorry..

>generations. It’s the game that did boost best
>sonic is considerably slower than unleashed
>2D sections are often slow and tedious unlike unleashed's
>you can't wall jump or light speed dash anywhere, dedicated ring trails and wall panels only (unlike unleashed)
"No!"

>there’s no filler warehog
Pleb filtered

1-CD-2-3-Mania

SA1-SA2

Generations

The rest are misteps.

Start with the main classic games (Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, Mania, CD, etc.) and spin-offs (Sonic Spinball, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Jam, etc.). Then move on to the main 3D era games (Sonic Adventure 1, 2, Heroes, etc.) and spin-offs (Advance, Riders, Rush, etc.). Finish with the main modern era games (Sonic '06, Unleashed, Colors, etc.) and spin-offs (Sonic and the Secret Rings, 4, Sega All Stars Racing, etc.). Feel free to move around if any game feels boring.

2 then CD then 3
then stop playing sonic cause all the other games are mediocre

We can all agree that CD is best played after 3&K right?

All I will say is that sonic and knuckles had my favorite all time vidya gimmick with being able play 1 and 2 with knuckles.

Best games for absolute beginners are:
>Sonic Mania
>Sonic Generations
If they have a little bit of experience, then:
>Sonic 3 complete
>Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

This is the first time I'm hearing about the gamegear versions of the first two games. What's up with that? Were they developed and released at the same time? From a quick glance it seems like the genesis versions are graphically better but the stages seem different.

Nothing complicated, just play the main Genesis trilogy + CD then play the main 3D games, all in release order. Then play the spinoffs whenever you want to.

The GameGear versions are more like normal platformers and they're pretty fun.
The second one has an alternate ending where Tails dies though.

BASED
They say Mania is Sonic 4 but that's EXTREME COPE

>for beginners
Sonic is a game for children

Sonic 1
Sonic 2
Sonic 3
Sonic Advance
Sonic Mania
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Colors
Sonic Generations

Sonic 4 is literally Sonic The Portable

Sonic 4 is literally Sonic 4

Damn wow really? Too bad its the fourth installment after Sonic 3 making it Sonic 4.

It literally says Sonic The Portable

>Starting with Mania
Mania is literally a shitty anniversary style Sonic game. I wouldn't even recommend playing it, nor be your first classic Sonic title because you'll think 2D Sonic isn't good. Also you won't get any of the references to previous games, even if they're shit.(Notably Mean Bean fight)
Just start with this for classic Sonic:
>Sonic 1
>Sonic 2
>Sonic 3
>Sonic and Knuckles
>Sonic CD
I put CD at the end because it's kind of it's own separate self contained story and game. The only thing you'll notice that there's no Tails. But this is also the only 2D Sonic game that has Metal Sonic(No, I don't count Mania) nor Amy Rose.
There's also Sonic 4 which became non-canon apparently. It's a actual decent game despite Sonic fans telling you it's fucking shit. Truly fucking underrated.

Sonic was never good

Sonic 1 and 2 suck

Sonic 1-3&K
Sonic Adventure 1+2
Sonic Heroes
Sonic Unleashed
Sonic Colors
Sonic Generations
Sonic Lost World
Sonic Forces

All of the mainline entries in release order. A homebrewed Wii can play everything up to Colors, PC covers the rest.

Nah.

In the order of release, fucktard.
Onto the next Sonic Thread.

play Sonic Adventure 2; everything else is garbage

>Sonic 1

Ignore all the rest, play Generations if you want.
