Death Stranding spoiler thread

I'm guessing most folks on PC are getting done with the story now? What was the common consensus? To me it had some really high highs and low lows but overall I think the ending let down the massive build up it was having prior to the final chapter. Otherwise it was a pretty wild ride.

i liked elements of the story, but most of the characters sucked and the dialogue was cringe. still love the game though. going for all the achieves now.

Is Chapter 15 just endgame?

yup

I'm still not sure if I'm too dumb for the story or if the story is too dumb for me.

Literally what was the point of all the hush hush instead of just telling Sam the truth from the start? How exactly was Sixth Extinxction prevented? All that happened was Amelie dropping exposition and a hug. Was that it? Why have such a ridiculous amount of cutscenes for the final revel when the game ends there and it really has no bearing on the further narrative anyways? Why did Die-Hardman feel guilty over Cliff's death when Bridget pulled the trigger? Who was Lisa and why was she bald?

that thumbnail looked like a Mensis Cage

Why did Cliffy boi kill his wife again?

I'm still not done.

The story was not very well paced. Too frontloaded and backloaded, to sparse during the middle. Also relying too much on text files to get backstories and character arcs across.

Kojima just hasn't quite figured out how to tell a story in an open world game yet. DS is a massive improvement from MGS V but can't quite shake off all of its problems. Everything just needs more context. There's a reason most open world games have a shirt cutscene before and after every mission to properly contextualize them.

He will never stop bloating his stories with EXPOSITION. So much of DS is just explaining its overly complex setting. A complexity that IMO does not justify itself due to how weak most character arcs are.

Idk either, but it feels like things aren't what they seem in it.

the death stranding is way too weird & human like, considering that its older than humanity i think there's no way it wasn't caused by other entities

some of it was just extremely cheesy, and i don't understand why Sam didn't end up with Fragile. At start he's a loner, throughout the game he sort of starts being social again, but then he's just like "nah lol"? I also wish that the game would show more of what did he do after the ending, the "le 2 weeks before haha" bullshit is cringe. other than this it was pretty good.

to put her out of her misery, she was braindead.

I don't necessarily mind the exposition, I just think there gotta be a more engaging way to convey it than through text files or audiologs or even the talking head codec calls of the earlier MGS games.

I still have no idea what Death Stranding is. I'm reading the wiki now and apparently Sam's resurrection caused? These characters speak so overly vague and long that the point is lost on me.

>ending let down
Lol no it was perfect

>Also relying too much on text files to get backstories and character arcs across.
I found this to be the laziest shit in the game and they should have given the player the option have it read to them while they walk in the overworld

>30 minute cutscene just to show who the BB baby is
>Of those 30 minutes, we saw most of it already
>Game ends there so it doesn't have an importance on much anyways

sup caramel

For me that whole beach scene and credits with Amelie dragged on for too long. But I really enjoyed the bits after that, and I started to tear up when I got to the incinerator.

the scene with Sam in between of die-hardman and Cliff made me cry croco tears.

It's a planetary extinction event by a godlike entity who has a severe bias for the United States of America.
There were 5 prior extinctions, caused by different entities. She is supposed to be the final one, causing planetary death to be permanent. But she's conflicted and doesn't really want to do it. However, she caused it to happen too early because she was bored/ depressed/ bored. So yeah, something like that.

>ending let down

New to Kojima games?

And people still haven't figured out that Kojima hates burgers.

>Literally what was the point of all the hush hush instead of just telling Sam the truth from the start?
1) he wouldn't do it if he knew from the beginning 2) there are power plays within Bridges / UCA that prevent full disclosure 3) game hints that everyone grasps at straws and nobody really knows what and why is happening
>How exactly was Sixth Extinxction prevented?
It wasn't prevented. Amelie wanted to make it faster because she was getting bored of being Extinction Entity, now she'll hold the Final Stranding for as long as possible to allow humans to evolve.
>Why did Die-Hardman feel guilty over Cliff's death when Bridget pulled the trigger?
You're just a fucking retard here
>Who was Lisa and why was she bald?
Sam's pregnant wife that died. You've probably missed the fact that Lou is his biological daughter, haven't you?

Sam is BB did you not understand the whole Ka and Ha deal and what kind of repatriate Sam was with the help of The EE after cliff and the BB got shot

Lucy was his wifes name if you got it confused, dont remember but i think they said she an heroed because of DOOMs nightmares

Sam WAS a BB and it's his flashbacks we see throughout the game, but HE'S NOT THE BB HE'S TRAVELING WITH.

>Sam's pregnant wife that died. You've probably missed the fact that Lou is his biological daughter, haven't you?
You're the retard here lad. Lisa is Cliff's wife, Sam's wife is Lucy which died in a voidout with his unborn child. Lisa and Cliff are Sam's parents.

i cracked the code

yeah he is BB not Lou(BB-28)

Sorry, I don't have good memory of names, but the rest of the post still stands.

yeh i agree with all that.
