Do I take the plunge, anons? The game looks comfy and I'm afraid I might miss out on the social features if I wait it out.
Death Stranding PC
It's impossible to miss out on them. The grognard population of this game will be huge now its on pc.
there at still 40 000+ people consistently playing the game on ps4, don't worry
you will miss out only if you play the game in 2030
you won't miss out
t. only playing it on ps4 just now
don't worry user you'll still get a ton of likes if you build bridges in random places in the starting area
mah nigga, just started this week
why do people do this?
what is even the point of likes
I just see pointless bridges all over the map littering the landscape and I can't be arsed to dismantle them all
Agree ps4 is the best way to play but I think the pc population will last forever. I suppose that's the same for any console game vs pc equivalent. Finished the ps4 main story and was grinding the endgame, working on the pc version now.
That's good to know. I was hoping to wait for at least a 20% off sale or whatever, but I'd be willing to forgo that for a fuller experience.
Are the structures temporary or do they just get removed for everyone after a certain number of dismantles?
I assume it's just to make driving less annoying in shitty/uneven terrain.
Makeshift timefall shelters before you get the real ones.
I don't have the PS4, otherwise I might give that version a shot. The game's like 20 bucks now on PS4 and I only have a mid-range gpu anyway.
It's redditor humour. You need to be autistic to understand.
You can take shelter from Timefall under bridges. Also bridges degrade over time thanks to Timefall, if not upgraded to last longer. So sometimes you only see one bridge standing where there used to be 2 or 3.
Guess that'd explain how there are ladders just sitting on the floor in the middle of nowhere with hundreds of thousands of likes
>whats the point of likes
You wouldn't get it.
The more likes they get, the more they appear in other peoples games. So a good structure can go viral across everyones game (so a briddge can get like 25000 likes if placecd right). Regardless of likes, it appears in a number of other peoples games (these are your strand connections, players you regularly encounter, as opposed to the whole community, they change often though and you can increase the number of players directly tied to your game)
all structures exist just to make peoples lives easier. Bridges help out players earlier on in the game, they dont give you as a person direct help. You can place items inn postboxes for other, noob players to pickup, and in turn are helped when other people gift you stuff. Ziplines are by far the most useful, also timefall shelters.
Roads for example need more resourcecs than one player can realistically gather, but roads are shared across peoples games so everyone needs to help build them. Structures decay when timefall hits them.
I thought reddit hated this game?
My 7 year old i5 4430 8gb RAM with GTX 970 card runs the game just fine in 1080p and 60 fps. I shouldnt go beyond those specs anyway because my huge screen tv is starting to get old and only supports 60hz.
So with middling to decent specs you basically get the same experience you would get in PS4, except you would get solid 60 fps instead of 30.
its not graphically intensive but its a cpu murderer
Oh so the structures kind of go on rotations and the ones with the most likes stick and appear more. That's pretty cool.
You can take your time getting it, but it's worth it. The game is comfy as well as interesting in that "makes you think about the nature of games" way. Kojima's story is pretty good but he drops the ball a few times regarding one character in particular. Great shit regardless.
How long does it take for roads to degrade over timefall?
I'm just done making the roads all the way from craftsman to south knot city and I seriously don't want to grind this all over again
the game will likely always have a slew of dedicated autists playing it, I wouldn't worry about it
getting it during a future sale will be cheaper and also means more people will be buying it then too meaning the community would get a bump
Sounds like solid optimization. I have the same specs as you, except for an i7 from the same gen.
Its the same logic as with Dark Souls player messages. Most popular ones stick to the ground and are more visible.
yeah so certain structures on a well used route can get close to quarter a million likes and be appearing in many thousands of players games. Players have a limit on likes too and generally a structure gets one like per use.
But other players stuff only appears after you have traversed a region on your own and connected it to the network.
If you press select to call out, you can hear other players respond if there was someone in the vicinity, but you can interact directly.
Based.
>started playing PS4 version as PC released to chill in the threads
>still getting hundreds of thousands of likes
>people still fix roads
>my supply requests still get filled out on time
>maxed my strand contracts
>still updating them as more people like my shit so their my top 30 bros
>not even on close to halfway done with the game's story
I'm pleasantly surprised to see the game is still active.
I've been just delivering shared cargos from the first little outpost back to the Capital, do the people who shared the cargo get anything when i deliver them for them?
it takes a long time, more in certain areas like near the ruined roadside factory where the BTs hang out. But generally once a road is done it will stick for months because other players still cocntribute material.
Its strange but you do feel the urge to chip in little bits, ladder here, 100 metals there, and so on. I wouldnt worry about structures disappearing.
yea, they do degrade over time like the other user said BUT anyone can pump resources into them, at least the major stuff like roads, postboxes, ziplines and stuff so they don't degrade and the amount is very easy to fill once the thing is actually built so unless it's some structure out in the middle of no where with little purpose you can expect people to maintain all the useful structures for a long time
You can already get it for 20% off from gmg or a few other key sites.
> I'm afraid I might miss out on the social features if I wait it out.
is this a thing that can actually happen?
Get it. I played it on PS4 or I'd have picked it up on PC for sure.
Honestly the comfiest feeling is picking up another players dropped carrgo from the share locker and delivering it and seeing their gamertag n stuff.
Especially once youve got that highway built and can pick up like 1500kg of cargo and take them all in a one-er
It'll be fine. I just wish they'd start making mods for the PC version
Kojima games generally run pretty well on PC. They just tend to have more game crashes or weird requisites before you can even launch the game properly. But once things start running its mostly smooth running.
once they are built in your game, players building them in other games will add those materials to the maintenance of yours too. The roads disappearing after built is basically impossible.
if everyone stopped playing then i guess ya, it would be like dark souls without all the messages and summons to round out the experience. there's small upkeep requirements, see
Game stutters like a motherfucker particularly in the area around the Craftsman. I'm going to try and mess with the Steam input and controller settings which the latest patch was supposed to fix. I don't know what else could be the cause of this, I once even tried turning off or down all gfx to minimum and I still had issues. Wish me luck.
Depends.
If it's lost cargo then it just shows up in their private locker so they can complete the delivery and get likes as normal.
If it's entrusted cargo then they already got their fraction of likes from entrusting it to you so you;re the one completing the order.
You can maintain them, which isn't all that hard. You're busy using them all the time anyway, so might as well feed them some basic materials you found laying on the ground somewhere everytime you go through.
There is deff some shit going on with controllers. Often it repeatedly takes input (ie, it thinks im tapping start when I just pressed it once) and people talking about controllers tanking performance. Like I said it murders cpu but the gpu doesnt mind it at all.
that's just roads though right? because everything else doesn't have a preset location?
It's one of the best games I've played in the last decade. I highly recommend it.
