Most of the staff that made the best games in the franchise have left to pursue other games

Sheer force of Autism and Good Vibes from all Age Groups and Races.

Rabid fanbase

ENOUGH.

Enter Chadnic 3 and Chadkles

All ages franchise that branches successfully into other mediums.

I dig the Sonic Boom cartoon.
You can tell it’s made for children, but some of the jokes are just too good.

Nostalgia along with a design that appeals to children and autists

That's precisely what makes it so memorable. Its complete inconsistency means that no matter what terrible taste you have, there will be some Sonic game out there that appeals to you

It's the music really

It's always been godlike.

because the games are good retard

>Mostly binary morality
>Characters with one-note personalities
t. Never played any games before Colors.

it has god-tier characters, and the golden age of 1999-2009 was a higher peak than most franchises will ever see.

Because it legitimately rivals Mario when it's at it's best

>was a higher peak than most franchises will ever see.
That was 1991 - 1996

Tons of potential that fans try to bring about in their works since Sega is shit.

On a different note, what the fuck are Rings and why has nothing in all these years tried to make them important? Secret Rings doesn't count.

So basically any Nintendo franchise?

Almost any Nintendo franchise
Except maybe starfox

ESPECIALLY Star Fox

Genesis area was a close call. Super Mario World had MUCH more content, but Sanic had more consistency and better music.

Anything after Mario wins by a landslide.

If Sonic maintained the level of quality he had in the Genesis era he'd still most likely rival Mario and we wouldn't have to ask why he it was one of the best franchises ever made

rings are ring energy? and vice versa

Classic: Yes
Modern: Nah

literally all of those games were shit, some were borderline unplayable. sonic started with chadventure.

This.

Good character designs
eat shit classicpedo, go play mario if you want to play a shitty soulless corporate game with no depth or characters.

t. Still salty about Mania being good

>Super Mario World had MUCH more content
Yeah it has way more levels but they're all much shorter and more simplistic. It's also the exact same stage archetypes and enemies, the entire game, whereas Sonic changes it up with unique settings and enemies every Zone.

Are you implying Sonic and friends aren’t goofy two shoes with slight attitude at best?

They ain’t fuckin Arthur Morgan dude, they’re about as deep as a kiddy pool.

Sonic is popular for two reasons. Character designs and character personalities. Sonic's characters are actually enjoyable to watch them engage in shenanigans. Though now that Sonic has become not only badly written but soulless inoffensive since Lost World they really wrecked the few amusing things about the franchise.

So it rivaled Mario for exactly 5 years then shit the bed for the next 25?

Some franchise.

>mania
>good

Autistic people have been carrying this franchise for years

Not him but Mario World was also open world too so you traded level complexity for interactivity between different areas and paths to the end game.

>Why is Sonic one of the best gaming franchises ever
To be honest, only the 2D games fills that criteria

There's not a single sonic game that is actual objective high quality

Why'd you post a picture of yourself, zoomie?

no, it surpassed mario for a decade (1999-2009). kirby was always still better than both, though.

Mindbroken. I love Sonic regardless of what his incarnation is. But you need to shut the fuck up.
They still sold more copies than any other era. And on top of that, Sonic was literally the most famous character at that time - that's what a peak is in terms of a business.

Point is if it didn't shit the bed it'd still rival Mario to this day

>Mania
>Bad
You don't look cool, user.
