Why can't I rape in video games?

user, don't be obtuse. There is a difference between murder and self-defense. No one expects you to just die if you can save your life. But if you are actively killing people who did nothing to you, then 90% of games punish you (Either by giving you dialogue penalties, calling guards on you, stat debuffs, bad endings, etc.)

So clearly developers don't want you murdering people. So then why would rape be ok? What context would rape be ok?

In real life, You can't kill someone running or trying to escape from you user. So why would rape be ok.

You can justify violence by making enemies evil or whatever, but there is no possible justification for rape. Even games with "bad" main characters usually try to make them sympathetic somehow. You can't be sympathetic toward a rapist. Also, the vast majority of people are not psychopathic or autistic.

Weren't you arguing about realism? If very few criminals rape, then wouldn't it be more realistic that video game protagonists who are violent criminals would more often than not not be rapists?
