Yes, development began 6 years ago. But Yandere Simulator is much more ambitious and complex than an average indie game. The premise itself may seem straightforward, but the number of features and depth of mechanics is comparable to that of AAA open-world sandbox titles. It's unrealistic to expect a game like this to reach the optimization stage in less than 6 years, simply due to the unusually large scope and deep complexity of the game, coupled with the fact that it's mostly being developed by a single person. Nobody can accurately estimate how long it should take to teach the optimization stage, because there isn't a pre-existing project that Yandere Sim can be compared to.
No solo developer has ever attempted to build a social stealth school simulation sandbox game before. The length of time that it takes for a single man to develop a game like this has simply not been established yet, so "it's been 6 years, you should have optimized the game by now" is simply not a valid statement.
Even with the above information in mind, I do think that the game should be further into development by now, but there are factors that massively slowed down the game's development and put the game way behind schedule.
Early in the game's development, I adopted an unreasonable update schedule; one major feature every 2 weeks. As a result, the game was developed under "crunch time" for several years straight; 15-hour workdays, no vacations, constantly sacrificing physical and psychological health, etc. This caused me to become "burned out", which severely reduced my productivity. Due to my ongoing obligation to devote most of my time to Yandere Simulator, I have never had an opportunity to recover from this burnout and return to normal levels of productivity.
My experience with lolcow culture was someone roleplaying as my friend for years in hopes he would finally get a picture of me to post online. Of course he would never get one, and if he did I would be smart enough to give him a picture that looks like his exaggrated assumptions of me

I dont want to read all that

If I wanted to read all that I'd buy a book.

I hope he'll keep making it, for a few years this guy was was an infinite source of amusement.

I know this is not Alex, but it is a fairly good point that merits discussion: Hitman games take six years to be developed by a competent team, so do Persona ones. One would expect that doing a game that combines both would be too much for someone who never finished a solo project before. His schedule was also all off. Alex himself said he would have it done years before. If it's so much, why didn't he just acknowledge he bit more than he could chew? Instead he blames literally everyone one else, even his fans, for his failings while streaming himself playing video games. Had he released a single demo with a clear goal (i.e. Osana) the fans would have something to cling onto. The many features in the game could be added in later builds, much like old games added more features with expansion packs.
A great example of that is DotA Allstars and every few new releases added new features: respawnable jungles, runes, glyph. Had Euls, Guinsoo or IceFrog waited until they had the full game, it would never be the phenomena it is today. >but muh single player Same could be said about Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 and The Sims, which added extra content after the games' releases.

Stop procrastinating and just work on your fucking game. All of this Drama started because people realized they've been waiting years for essentially nothing

You can look at the code and see that it isn't built to be built upon like that. It would be easier if the core gameplay was established, but it's still far from concrete. He doesn't exactly plan to develop the game alone. He plans to crowdfund half of it and get other people to fix it up. I don't think I've ever seen someone make a vertical slice or prototype like this, where they spend so much time on polish, bug fixing and presentation while trying to figure out core game mechanics only to scrap a lot of it and rebuild. Most of the indie devs who want to solicit investors crank out something bare bones and put a detailed description of the game in words. I've only heard of Star Citizen deciding the trash a bunch of their stuff and move to a new engine after they got ridiculous funding, not before.

Then Tinybuild offered you a whole year off while they cleaned up your mess of a game and you told them to fuck off because you cant into coding above the elementary level God Alex is such a fucking joke. And he actually believes in all this nonsense he spews

Lmao isn't this game made in unity? Imagine taking 6 years to develop maybe one or two mechanics along with some cutscenes while everything else has already been done better.

ITT: Cancel culture in action.
Make no mistake, my friends. YandereDev is a victim of cancel culture.
>cancel culture. You dont even know what that means, do you? And this isnt cancel culture. This is 6 years of hyping and bragging and conning finally coming back to bite Yandev in the ass
Isaac Roberts
Alex deserves to be canceled How about you defend actual innocent people who doesn't deserve it

Why do you make these threads everyday?

not really, and the reason why is simple-all the dates he announced so far have always been tentative. So when he blows past them, he can shift blame onto the others stupid enough to assume his tentative dates were final. The fault is on the patreon fans stupid enough to buy into his drivel He actually made a cunty post about that regarding his earlier announcement that Osana would come out around August 1, and when he failed again, in an attempt to damage control
Levi White
You'll be suing a guy for scamming you out of a murder fantasy with minors. Meditate upon that, Yandev backers are mentally ill scum of society themselves.
Zachary Diaz
>biting off more than you can chew is somehow excusable 1st mistake all amateurs make is promising outside of their achievable scope. 2nd is subscribing to sunk cost. 3rd is excusing poor organization and laziness due to the above as "burnout".
No one with a handle on expectations vs reality will promise the impossible and make excuses for not delivering. It's sad that this dev will never be able to get a decent job after the project falls through.
Isaac Cruz
>The Narcissist’s Prayer >That didn't happen. >And if it did, it wasn't that bad. >And if it was, that's not a big deal. >And if it is, that's not my fault. >And if it was, I didn't mean it. >And if I did... >You deserved it.
Yes Yandev is a total narcissist in addition to being a fucking moron, we've known that for years
Zachary Cooper
Haha, deepfakes man go DAME DA NE.
Ryan Peterson
Cancel culture always insists the person they’re cancelling deserves it somehow.
Isaiah Lopez
The game looks like horseshit
Why does Zig Forums go nuts over it?
Adam Bell
I feel kinda bad, the man's become a meme at this point and there's nothing anyone can do about it, he should strive to fix up his gave and prove everyone wrong but we all know that's never gonna happen
>amateur enters a profession they have no idea how to handle >promises well beyond what they can achieve >knows they can't achieve it >hypes it anyway >takes money from suckers who fall for their empty promises >finally faced with the reality that others can achieve what they cannot >panics and tries to evoke pity from scammed victims
This is straight out of a children's fairy tale. They're coming to the final act now and will likely get what they deserve.
