Talk about the shooting game genre right now.

DOOM and Max Payne are my favorite shooting games.
I lack discipline I'm never going to 1cc something ever again.
Thinking of doing a video on Ketsui soon now that Shmupmame is workin right for me. Also just cleared the newish ZeroRanger arrange mode and really liked that
Who likes Deathsmiles?
Playing exceed 3rd right now. Not the shitty steam version, the real one
For some reason stage 3 and 4 are bugged and I can’t pick them in stage select. Anyone else had that issue?
Sometimes simple is best.
Cho Ren Sha was what I played the most in the late 90s for shmups.
I competed with a friend for high score.
Got good enough to not die through two clears.
Me love Darius and Thunder Force, yes...
...
Deathsmiles is awesome, the scoring system is one of the most unique I've seen in the genre and it's really satisfying to get all of the items flowing out just perfectly. It also has great character design.
best games:
Ikaruga
death smile
My favorite shmup game, not the best, but I'm really fond of it. I wish they would port the sequel to steam soon. I want the extra features the console release has.
>Deathsmiles
cute goth cunny
pretty fucking epic
dariusburst chronicles, too expensive.
>I had this pic for years witout knowing they were coming from a game and were not OC.
Well, damn.
Pulling off a recharge successfully feels great too. Volcano is always fun because most of the stage is just constantly milking points from the rocks. And yes, lovely characters.
That'd be cool. I don't like the second game nearly as much as the first, but I'd still buy a Steam port immediately.
Bros, visit HEY Akihabara while you still can.
Wrong picture
How do I get LV3 satisfaction in hellsinker?
any coomer shmups??
I pre-ordered this at Gametop. Picked up in person. I miss that era.
play Caladrius Blaze
damaging bosses will strip their clothes off
Why? are they closing?
>but I'd still buy a Steam port immediately
Doubt we'll ever see any more CAVE games on PC. M2 said they would maybe look into it if they could solve the timing issues they were having on Windows 10 but that was years ago so they've obviously given up.
Ikaruga art
Second easiest 1CC I got
ZeroRanger
No but given the climate right now for businesses like arcades it wouldn't be all that surprising for it to happen. Sega 2 just announced they're closing and even if it was mostly just UFO/Crane games it's the sign of the times for arcades. Mikado and Gamenewton are struggling as well. They're only surviving because of fan donations.
Play tenta shooter
don't play tenta shooter
I wish it looked like this in game
Any SHMUP with good story or romance? I need motivation to clear this. Score and waifu only is not enough for me?
ikaruga actually good? Looks like an old 90's game
>degrade your brand by ditching the gritty aesthetic of your games in favor of generic pedo moeshit
>games sell less and less and eventually you have to shut down
Based, fuck Cave and all other Jap devs who did this and paid the price. Should have had the integrity to stick to your own identity rather than mindlessly chasing a retarded niche fad.
It's good but it has a bad rep because casual shmup players often proclaim it as the greatest shooter of all time even though they've never cleared it.
It was the most fun I ever had.
I don't think CAVE shut down. IIRC they doubled down on the cutesy waifu shit and it worked so stopped bothering with arcade games altogether.
Zeroranger have a pretty simple and fun story
>romance
kamui
Get the entire alltynex trilogy too while you're at it
They work mainly on a mobage called Gomaotsu now, the last arcade game was SaiDaiOuJou in 2012
The truth is the shoot 'em up market isn't really profitable any more, since interest in arcades has declined and this is where most of the returns from making the games goes. Ports are actually much less profitable, and over the past 20 years we have the hardcore arcade fans who keep dumping in quarters to thank for keeping the scene alive. No one has found a way to make casuals interested in the genre yet, so while we still get new games, there's no major developers left making new games except with R-Type Final II right now.
I wonder if it's even possible to make shoot 'em ups popular again, or if the '90-'05 golden age was more about sheer luck thanks to how the arcade market worked, considering the actual playerbase is still really small.
