Pokémon is LITERALLY a kids game though. People get into the competitive meta when it’s literally just automatically cross breeding by using knowledge they skimmed from online guides and then using optimized move-sets. Then battles literally become “select the right move and hope for an instant kill” and people feel smart because they selected the right button. It’s an insult to game design how it manages to greatly succeed with every new iteration

Pokemon will never flop because Pokemon fans don't care about quality. In fact, they are openly opposed to quality. Black/White and Black 2/White 2 are definitively the best Pokemon games. Everything about these games scream effort and passion, even Gamefreak's logo when you first boot up the game. However, it is they are the lowest selling mainline Pokemon games. Meanwhile, Sword and Shield which is the worst sells the most since Pokemania.
I know this post is getting long, but I've accepted the fact that Pokemon will never be good again. It's apart of growing up I guess.

Gen 6 had more than 10 routes and was still fun despite being easy. Since they still actually put some effort into it, it outclasses Sword and Shield by a longshot. Sword and Shield could have easily been a 3DS game if it wasn't for dynamaxing lmao

I never understood the big deal about the pokedex being smaller at launch, especially as it appears that over time the full pokedex will be added back in, about half of the missing pokedex got added in this year with these 2 batches of DLC expansions (the pokedex expansion is free regardless of if you buy the expansions), and I bet the remaining missing half of the pokedex will then come out next year, possibly with more DLC.

Frankly, the lack of the full pokedex never bothered me at all. I do wish that Mega Evolution and to a lesser extent, Z-moves, were still in the game though.

The issue is that literally not a single game in the series had that as an issue(even in gen 3, you could at least hack the missing pokemon in), and the reasons they gave for it were bullshit through and through.

None of that bothers me. Ideally the cut even more mons, like 80% are shitmons after all.

Yeah, but that still doesn't upset me. Regardless of if there was no precedent or not, the game launched with over 400 Pokemon, most of which I was still never going to catch. If I was one of those guys that still felt it necessary to "catch 'em all," or I was one of those people that obsesses about transferring all my pokemon from game to game, then sure, I might be upset, but I'd be lying if that described me in any way, that simply is not how I've approached Pokemon, at least not since gen 2 anyway.

SwSh are better than Gen 7. Holy shit, Alola was truly fucking garbage. Swsh may have had a garbage railroad story too, but at least they confined most of it to the end instead of forcing it on you the entire game.
