I've been enjoying it
kinda, but it's lacking soul hardcore
if you like toads, yea
Yeah it is, pretty funny too
The battle system sucking so much ass prevents it from being good
You mean in that it’s an actual puzzle? Honestly the battle system was the best part of the game especially for bosses
It's entertaining, but I wouldn't call it fun.
Some of the dialogue is funny and the places you visit are really creative.
But otherwise, the game lacks personality and has a really flawed battle system.
Also, Toads. A lot of Toads.
Easily the best Paper Mario since Super. Not great but a step in the right direction
Best in the series.
How's the music
This, 7/10 and that's being generous.
As an aside I'm amazed SJWs don't attack PM more, despite having a female dev lead there's like maybe five or ten female characters in the whole game. It's actually pretty sad considering how good the first three games were with well developed female characters.
No
*only for bosses
Normal battles were fucking dreadful
>Actual puzzle
Your brain is smooth and small, like a marble.
My favorite Mario game on the Switch.
The battle system ruins it. Having to solve a fucking puzzle in every damn battle.
there's zero incentive to fight battles, you can get just as many coins out of battle, it just ends up being a waste of time
terrible battle system
kind of funny I guess? Graphics look nice.
6/10
The game would have been slightly above average but not as good as the originals if they’d made it SPM and only retained the battle puzzles for bosses where they’re not too bad, even a little fun at times. The basic combat is basically terrible.
It's quite decent, but there are several things that would have been better if Nintendo didn't impose such strict guidelines on Intelligent Systems.
Yeah you can skip battles and you should. Honestly the game is a bit of a platformer in that regard. I legit dodged many enemies and that was pretty decent gameplay that didn’t exactly gut the game of its content.
This
There's no point in forcing turn based JRPG combat in a game that isn't a fucking JRPG
Rotating thing should have only been done for boss battles. Rest of the game should have been real time. Honestly it just feels like what they really want to make a Zelda game but they are stuck with Paper Mario and have to keep in some things that PM is known for like timed hits and RPG elements.
Best in the series youtube.com
The tutorial partner who dies at the end really drags the down imo. She never shuts the fuck up while simultaneously saying nothing but the most obvious shit.
>Pick up health
>game has a pop up saying "THIS IS HEALTH, IT HEALS YOU"
>Princess dumbfuck pops out of Marios ass and has three text boxes worth of dialog that boils down to, "Mario, that thing you just picked up increased your health, thats great"
and this happens non-stop throughout the entire game and every new room you step into.
I fucking wish she died earlier.
It was ok. The writing is still quite charming, and I liked the mechanical variety in the later chapters. The combat system wore out its welcome pretty early on, though.
People have been memeing for years that OoT's Navi was annoying as fuck. Well, nothing comes close to Olivia. She's without a doubt, the worst fucking sidekick character I've ever seen in a video game.
Like, what the fuck were they thinking? It doesn't help that you can't mash A to make her fucking slow ass text boxes move any faster
Anons, don't talk about how you skipped battles or Tanabe will find a way to force them on you in the next game.
Everything is good but the combat, but unfortunately the combat's structure means most optional treasure and side-quest stuff are just trophies for the museum
I think keeping the 3D battlefield aesthetic but adding in way more options for moves (spin hammer hitting the entire ring nearest you, thrown items having different patterns, etc), all while moving closer to TTYD's action commands would have improved the whole thing a ton. Maybe have slight ring maneuvering (a single turn or slide, one space, not free reign to move it as much as you want) that increased as you got stronger. As it stands, it's a puzzle game with a thin veneer of combat. Being able to end combat on turn 1 is a fundamentally awful design choice. The boss fights are much more engaging, but still lackluster.
It's a damn shame, because swapping just a few design changes would have taken it from a 6 to a 9 easily
incredible
There's already too many forced battles in the game anyway.
>She's without a doubt, the worst fucking sidekick character I've ever seen in a video game
Kersti and Fi are worse, but Olivia is close.
As much as I hate “muh soul”, the magic from SPM and TYD is definitely lost in Oragami
Nintendo straight up does not understand that people actually like what they see as cringe.
Because they need to insert jokes and sarcasm any instance that they can. It’s what kids like, right?
Further cementing the hard truth that Nintendo is just a shovelware company with rampant, legacy brand loyalty.
I'm actually disappointed how no one else has pointed out just how fucking annoying her constant interruptions are. Its almost like the character is satire, but no one in-game or out of it calls it out.
7-8/10 its alright does not beat the 1st two tho
If you're looking for an adventure game, sure
If you're looking for a RPG, move along
Nintendo would never make a Mario companion satire, because Mario isn't allowed to emote anymore so everything has to be from their perspective.
I’m enjoying it quite a bit
