Why did Arcades die?
Why did Arcades die?
home consoles got gud by the end of the 90s. That's when they started to dissapear.
In reality though, there's still quite a few around.
Americans have no respect for communal property, a disdain for public transit, and a low population density.
They are still around in local amusement parks.
Consoles. Duh. So glad we got this thread instead of the explosion discussion thread. /sarcasm
Where you can get electrocuted to death for stepping on the cables. Be sure to step over them, based Zig Forumsro.
It happened in Europe too. So it's not just the pubilc transport and low population density thing.
They're more expensive than owning a console/PC in the long run.
Europe barely had any arcades in the first place outside the UK and France.
In Germany they were classified as gambling machines
Well, what about the UK and France?
Arcades are dying in Japan, too. Where is the next destination for your goal post?
UK arcades are dead, but I am pretty sure the French still have some
Arcades were never even close to the thing they were in Japan or America even in the 70s & 80s.
Not sure why this causes asshurt for you.
There's a great one about a half hour away from me in a college town in michigan. I hope they can stay open with covid, i'll be pissed if they close permanently.
They have almost every house of the dead/time crisis, along with like 100 pinball machines and like 100 other arcade cabs.
Duke Nukem Forever was a good game
True reason arcades are dying same goes for japan
rent went from being almost a joke to murdering business left and right
They've been converted into game bars because the only people that would go to them are adults who went to arcades as children. So basically they cater to soijacks so they can drink white claw and play pacman because thats epic.
There are many reasons. But to put it short THE MEGACHAD happened.
Hello? Based department?
Only the small arcadey died. The remaining ones are hudge and epic.
Theyre still around. But corona dealt the death blow.
>White Claw Hard Seltzer is an alcoholic seltzer water beverage
What the fuck
Yeah it tastes like shit too but all the zoomers that just turned 21 fucking love it
whats the point of keeping them though other than nostalgia? Its eats up money and you play games that your father played when he was in highschool
No we fucking don't, I've never even heard of it. Maybe where you live nigga. We just drink squash mixed with vodka and ketamine.
I like lemonade for ketamine personally.
Niggers and spics infested arcades and ruined it for whites.
weve been over this a billion times, consoles catching up graphically and online play being accessible didnt help, the hardcore niggas would still gather up for locals but johnny mcnormalfag can just play SF4 from the comfort of his own couch so why bother leaving the house?
niggers and spics using them to deal drugs
too spenny innit
Amount of shovel ware being put in arcades and home consoles and pc gaming rise.
If arcades just switched out those shitty mobile and carnival games with more REAL games like the ones in japan then they could carve out a profitable niche instead of trying to appease the lowest common denominator that don't even bother with them
Same reason things like soda fountains and internet/gaming cafes died off.
The allure and appeal of them was lost when their goods became widespread and commonplace to the individual consumer. Soda went from a treat you enjoyed with friends to just another drink option. High speed internet being accessible everywhere combined with console online play becoming common ruined the need to go anywhere to access the internet, as well as playing games with friends.
Amusement parks are still a thing because you can't make a roller coaster in your living room. But you bet your ass the second that experience can be replicated on your couch, six flags is going tits up.
Does this mean that if normalfags could replicate restaurant quality and park rides they would stay at home all day?
Wouldn't you? I sure as shit would.
Well is just that I wonder in the future how are you going to meet new people if we all stay inside.
When I learned how to actually cook I almost entirely stopped eating out.
>ticket arcades
the worst
another thing sony has killed off. it's in their nature to kill gaming. it's like they've been planning it for 3 decades.
You would date AIs
Tfw the only arcade near me is just 7 Mame Boxes with poor emulation, some shitty digital pinball games (Where the table is a fucking video), a broken Carnevil, and 5 DDR and Guitar Hero spots
They had a decent collection of old games but they all got damaged because even in a 100% white town no one respects shit
>buy ticket card
>try to swipe it in the machines
>half of them dont even read the fucking card so you wind up wasting all your "tokens" on games you didn't want to play in the first place
