What happened?

>online only
i would rather eat a bag of dirt

the single player part is unfinished and the multiplayer features are extremely bare-bones

>I thought this was going to kill pokemon
no you didn't, nobody genuinely believed that

It turned out to be rather bland and extremely unfinished. It'll be another year or two before it can even think of challenging pokemon.

No doubt.

Can't kill pokemon with those designs.

It got off to a poor start with Political shit and just kept stumbling after that.

Soulless garbage

Unappealing graphics, aimed to be a pokemon killer instead of its own thing, and just wasn't as good as they hyped it.

You cannot kill Pokemon with a cute creature collectible game. It cannot be done. Pokemon has cornered the market, the town square, and the city. If a new monster collectible game wants a shot it should aim for another audience, perhaps by making the monsters somewhat similar to the Monster Hunter bestiary (in the sense that the monsters in that franchise are meant to be big and physically impressive). But you just can't hope to beat Pokemon on a field it dominated for the past 20 years.

Ur idea is dumb

Less dumb than trying to carve a niche in a genre so completely dominated

Temtem didn't have an original bone in its body. Just read its Kickstarter page.

>Every kid dreams about becoming a Temtem tamer; exploring the six islands of the Airborne Archipelago, discovering new species, and making good friends along the way. Now it’s your turn to embark on an epic adventure and make those dreams come true.

>Catch new Temtem on Omninesia’s floating islands, battle other tamers on the sandy beaches of Deniz or trade with your friends in Tucma’s ash-covered fields. Defeat the ever-annoying Clan Belsoto and end its plot to rule over the Archipelago, beat all eight Dojo Leaders, and become the ultimate Temtem tamer!

>The world of the Airborne Archipelago is filled with creatures, named by the locals as Temtem. Temtem have always been a part of day-to-day life on the islands. They live in harmony alongside humans, helping them with their chores or being loyal and faithful pets.

>There's also a long tradition of taming wild Temtem and training them to fight in friendly battles against other tamers. In recent years, this has exploded in popularity due to a revolution in Temtem technology. Temtem scientists achieved the creation of the first Digital Temtem while studying new breeding techniques, and this has spurred the development of various commodities to help tamers on their adventures.

This isn't "inspired" by Pokemon, it's straight up ripping it off. And that's why it failed; it has zero originality.

They should’ve never released it on early access. They lost all their players after their EA release and I highly doubt they can get them back once it’s finished.

No one sees this game as a Pokémon killer. You guys are genuinely retarded.

It's still very unfinished in early access bruh, also making competitive teams is absolute cancer so unless you're a shiny hunting autist theres little endgame

EA, very ugly pastel colored design, and a mmo

I’ll play it again after the last two islands and remaining tems are added.

This is the correct answer, the game probably will be pretty good by the time its done but by then the hype is long since gone.

That’s why I’m saying they should’ve waited to release the game until it’s finished instead of doing early access.

it just got more and more blatant as i kept reading lmao

It did gain a fair bit of traction from the new patch but agreed, interest is just gonna keep dropping unless they add some amazing shit

Honestly I wonder if they regret doing early access in hindsight because 100% you are right that it was a mistake player population wise, the console release might help bump it back up a bit but it will never hit the playercount it could have had by releasing as a done game.

tranny shit

I think it’s good, honestly. I like the combat, the animations and graphics(compared to Pokémon). The designs are more on the cutesy side but that doesn’t mean they’re bad. I bought it but I’m going to wait to play it until it’s finished.

>launched with completely broken servers that took 2 days to fix
>launched with only like 60 temtem and 1/3rd of the games story content
>launched with absolutely nothing to do once you fiished the story other than luma hunt (shiny equivilent)
>launched with practically zero multiplayer functionality despite being billed as a Pokemon-MMO
>absolutely horrendous temtem designs that are only appealing on a 1-3 year old level
>they/them controversy
>it's literally just pokemon with a mana bar instead of move charges, and 2v2 by default.

It would probably do pretty good on Switch but for some reason it just feels...wrong...to play it on PC, for a lack of better reasoning.

The designs are fucking horrible. Just look at this shit.

most look better ingame desu, there are a couple tems that look god awful though

>It did gain a fair bit of traction from the new patch but agreed, interest is just gonna keep dropping unless they add some amazing shit
They went from ~500 ccu to 6000 ccu with the new patch but that's already dropped to ~2500 ccu and it's only been 2 weeks since the launch.
The games absolutely dead and will not be revived on PC. Next patch that 6k ccu will drop down to probably 4k ccu, and each subsequent major patch will drop more and more. They're fucked with their 1.0 because they're planning on charging $49.99 for it when it finally launches, and the market has shown us for the last half a decade that a non-significant amount of people wait for the 1.0 of an EA title. Shoulda never released it at the 30% stage like they did, or if anything release a free beta that only went to the first dojo to hammer out server issues, then release it when it's finished.

The crystal tems are really bad. They’re mostly random animals with random Crystal formations tacked on.

It helps that the animations look like something someone was actually paid to make instead of done by the intern in their spare time.

there’s nothing that can kill pokemon as a brand apart from tpci colossally fucking it up themselves somehow, but that isn’t even remotely close
it tried to challenge pokemon’s space from a point of spite alone but fails to capture the same broad demographic appeal and charm the series it’s aping
for something to be a proper pokemon killer, it needs to have the marketing money to match, and that’s not going to happen for a very long time
in addition pokemon has nostalgia going for it as well, so good luck beating that with a half-baked unity demo

yeah the only thing i can think of that'll bring a lot of people back for actual release is if they wipe everything and start F R E S H, but they obviously won't

I don’t the devs ever intended to make a game that would kill Pokémon or be as big. You guys are delusional.

lmao it is literally the same thing
what's that shit about a digital temtem at the end?

Nothing can kill pokémon, its the world's biggest franchise. Temtem is a good game but everyone was doing to it the same thing they did to Yo-kai Watch, calling it the new "pokémon killer" and when the new Pokémon game was released everyone quieted down and pretended they never heard of it. Just you wait the same thing will happen to Kindred Fates and the next monster catching game that happens to become a little bit noteworthy.

I don't get it, where do people get it temtem was going to be a Pokémon Killer? Crema never painted the game as such, they basically said this was just a not-pokémon for PC, they never attacked pokemon or any other monster catching franchise and yet even now I see people calling it the Pokémon-Killer. Like I get the latest Pokémon entries have been a big letdown but branding any mon game like this seems to be a wrong way to attract a crowd.

Shitposters and Journalists doing what they do best.
