DMC

How the fuck do you play this character?

Fucking shit I have too much to type before we hit bump, one minute

pardon me

Get a feel for the best way to earn DT meter, that's the key for everything V needs, it's why he has a button that exists solely to gain him DT. You need to understand when to use what attacks and when with Griffon and Shadow to maximize damage, learn what things turn V invincble, and how to use Nightmare effectively

For griffon his Flank Attack is awesome, it does nothing but doing a quick swoop that launches enemies, it's amazing. Round Robin when you charge it does stupid high stagger so you can charge it until V is surrounded and get tons of DT off of it. Almost everything Griffon does for you should be to gain DT, like using Barricade to hit tons of enemies at once and generate DT

Shadow is your primary damage dealer and all his attacks are great. Don't waste time doing most of his multihitters, though they can be useful in small doses for crowd control, but that's more what Griffon handles anyway. His back to forward melee spike attack from DMC1 is his highest damage dealer, Hedgehog crushes crowds and also destroys lingering projectiles that several spellcasters and lightning King Cerberus shit out in annoying quantities

If you want to focus on using one pet, set the other to DT so they can auto attack and be stronger. You want V as close to enemies as possible so Shadow isn't constantly teleporting back to you and so that both your pets constantly regen health. I rarely read the book to gain DT but it gains DT faster the closer you are to enemies while you read.

You are invincible for a good amount of time as soon as you tap DT and summon Nightmare. Let him auto attack on his own for the msot part, but to exploit openings with his huge ass laser on bosses, press L1 + O to teleport straight to him, quickly teleport to the enemy with Nightmares teleport, hold O to start the laser, then jump off of him and even deactivate DT to stop the DT drain, nightmare will finish the entire laser anyway.

Dodging left or right with Shadow is infinite iframe

I would suggest rebindinding your griffin button to a shoulder button. Use DT to power up one of your summons and have them on autopilot while you control the other one. Read your book for DT and panic nightmare. Also nightmare breaks shit in the level for fragments and secret missions.

Also Royal Fork is really strong and using it to freeze enemies while your pets relocate or to give V iframes can not be overstated in how important it is, it does solid damage as well so V can contribute to fucking huge groups up and doing crowd control

Also dodging left and right over and over with shadow for infinite iframes on bosses, like king cerberus' phase transition, generates shit loads of DT from the constant "perfect dodges"

Based V player

like Nero, switch Griffin button to one of the shoulder buttons. That bitch needs constant charging. Second is to have one second patience with Shadow. It takes a second of lock-on for him to get near that enemy. If you just start inputing attacks right after locking on an enemy that when it feels like shadow's not listening to you.

It just works

Also one last thing learn how to use Touch and Go, in all my experimentation I believe it's a frame perfect timing, or at most 3 frames, but you press O again, either locked on or not, to instantly teleport with the cane again right as you execute a demon. If you hold lock on it'll automatically teleport you to the next killable demon, if you leave it unlocked though you can teleport any direction you wish for extra style or evasion, based V player out I gotta go start Xenoblade with my roommate

Blue Rose became my fave firearm just because of this little trick.

Learn the timings for the cat and bird, use them as much as you can. Use bird's charges to you don't get input overlaps. Hold cat every time it does a long finisher, you'll get a free hedgehog. Do taunts with V. Use air taunts to keep him in the air. Don't be afraid to call Nightmare, it makes you invincible during the summon and restores the other two. Use gambit and promotion to move around. Use cat dodges for invincibility and cancels. Dodge cancel hedgehog if you want to use the ground spikes as launchers. Use royal fork to stop enemies. Move on to other enemies while V is executing one. Don't stay too far away from enemies since it will mess with the demon's AI. For mission 14 save Cavaliere for last.

Overall, focus on playing faster and better rather than more complicated. You don't have to be performing long combos with V, he's a lot more crowd control focused.

by modding him out

They really should just bite the bullet and makes R2 as Nero's default shoot button. R2 for devil snatch is unnecessary, I think it's meant for Hold but who the fuck uses it anyway.

They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

>Haven't finished the game
user... R2 is best move Nero has.

No I did, you're talking about knuckle? I swapped it to the square button. No problem putting it there.

Good choice

is S rank the highest ?

The buster should be press to grab then press again to throw like in every other game.

For Griffon, use his big charged attacks. Alternate them so style doesn’t fall.

For Shadow, I mostly just mash the melee button, trying to use his basic combos.

If style stagnates, I use some simple setplay: Griffon’s Flank Attack to launch, followed by Shadow’s Arbiter + Bayonet. Shadow’s Skewer + hold down to release Hedgehog 2. Because I’m a brainlet, I just spam Griffon’s Bullet when I’m using Shadow’s charged moves.

Focus attention on is dodging with V and reading his book. I do this till DT is really full, then summon Nightmare.

Once Nightmare is out: read the book to keep him out longer. If your rank is low, find somewhere safe and taunt. This should maintain SSS pretty easily. Nightmare takes so much aggro, that it’s easy to park V somewhere safe and taunt / read.

I personally don’t like controlling Nightmare; I prefer reading and keeping Nightmare out as long as possible. If you’re good with Nightmare, though, his giant beam attack is one of the strongest moves.

If the above ever starts dragging, then I pump DT into Shadow so I can just focus on cycling through Griffon’s moves.

The other thing to do is use V’s cane when you have safe openings. It really raises style. It has a lot of parry frames, but I don’t like risking it. So I mostly use this on stunned enemies while continuing to spam Shadow / Griffon’s basic attacks.

The only other advice is that in some battles you absolutely cannot camp with V and you need to stay running and jumping. Especially in narrow areas.

Defensively, I try not to use Griffon’s dodge ever, because it’s floaty and because it pulls Griffon out of his charge moves. Shadow’s dodge is almost too good; it has a crapload of invincible frames. I try not to rely on it too much, but it’s great for pulling Shadow out of the way from taking a big attack, which is really important on DMD.

Lastly, if you’re in a bind and need to jump constantly, you might as well air taunt.

For mission scores yes, for the style rank it's up to SSS.

Why is there lens flare in my lady butt?

Snoy.

I try to knuckle after every hit. It needs to be on a trigger. Same with Exceed.

same here, I'm telling you it works on the square button.

how can you guys be interested in putting so much time into something that doesn't even have multiplayer or a big fanbase
genuinely curious

Nigga, what? I have exceed on square and I can consistenly ex-act through an entire combo. Exceed is like the one thing that doesn't need to be on a shoulder button because they're no input overlap for it.

Shit's fun bro

>tfw can't even beat the first boss

The mechanics are deep and varied, and the combat is about doing cool things over killing enemies.
