Why does every "futuristic forcefield" look exactly the same? Transparent, slightly blue hexagonal plates. It appears in so many games, i don't understand why nobody has ever tried to make them look different.

Lynch tried, and look where it got him

Transparent since hindering visibility is one of the worst aspect of armor/shields irl, tinted a given color for the sake of the player to help with visual information processing (in game there would be no reason for them not to be as clear as possible to make enemies unsure if a shield was even being used), and hexagonal since you can make a sphere or most other shapes out of hexes which makes them versatile and they stand out.

Soul

man, that trailer had me so hyped

>slightly blue
Except in Halo they're a yellowish hue instead

It's a design that looks cool and everyone understand what it is. It's like trying to ask why health gauges should be red or green.

I unironically liked the movie shields.

How does a domed force field “know” when to stop? By that I mean, if it’s strong enough to stop bullets/laser/rockets why do they stop at dirt and rocks?

In Smash Bros it looks like a Perspex bubble that shatters when it breaks

>Forcefield
>Rain still gets through

it doesn't

kino

They don't stop you moving through them
I guess they just stop projectiles with great kinetic energy, like how you can press your fingers through corn starch easily enough, but if you try hitting it its gonna turn into a solid object

>NOOOOO!!! YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE A FUNCTIONAL BUBBLE SHIELD THE COMPLIMENTS BASIC GAMEPLAY ELEMENTS. YOU NEED TO TRY AND REINVENT THE WHEEL LIKE ME!

And yet they also have a slightly blue transparent hexagon

that's not the point being made whatsoever, you mong

>RRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Except you've made no point other than it's not your preference. Nor have you provided any alternatives.

Get fucked, autismo.

That's not the shield he's talking about dumdum

Notice the

in the post you quoted?

retard

imagine only being able to communicate through buzzwords and greentext

Did halo start this trend? I don't recall seeing it before.

Literally read the second post before posting.
I'm not saying Eve invented it, but it's certainly long before halo.

Creatively bankrupt, just another reason to hate Nudevelopers
