anyone else surprised they are also working on this?

I figured they would finish the ff7 remake series first.

There hasn't been a good mainline FF game in 20 years.

How about bringing back classes? And races? And fucking FANTASY? I’m sick of FF being some fruity J-pop simulator. The best games are the online ones and spinoffs like Tactics because they actually celebrate all the tropes of Final Fantasy, not strip them away because SE is afraid of the magic scaring away their shitty Cup Noodle sponsors or something.

>ff7 remake
>ff12

They've been devving multiple games at a time for a while now.

>The best games are the online ones

the online ones are not final fantasy though

Considering it took them 10 years to make Final Fantasy Vs- I mean Final Fantasy XV, no

If the speculation that Yoshida's team is handling XVI are true, that's what you're gonna get

XIV is Final Fantasy as fuck

If they had even close to half of the following qualities or equivalents, they can do whatever they want and I would be perfectly happy with it as long as being turn based is amidst them as well. Nevertheless I would prefer medieval/steampunk with nonstock characters or ones with subverted tropes. However ideally:

III's Summons, sub-group targeting, enemies & secrets
IV's Fine tuned enemies, ATB & five member party
V's Job Augment, pacing, travel method amount and escalation & boss variety
VI's Music, atmosphere, NPCs, cinematic approach, story telling methods & party member amount
VII's Structure, world/party cohesion, mini-games, multitude of antagonists, dungeon length, Limit Breaks & Materia
IX's Aesthetics (except for characters), ATEs & high theming
X-2's Garment Grid & Dresspheres (both in battle and as a level up system)
XIII-2's Mog Clock & Fragment Skills
LRXIII's Freedom & synth shop
WoFF's Speed up

X-2's or LRXIII's real time combat systems with smaller three instead of five member parties would also be perfectly acceptable substitutes. X's party swap mustn't be implemented, because it removes the danger and tension of reaching the turn of an appropriate party member.

If they just knuckle under and make some magitek setting that's more magi than tek I'll be happy.

Bonus if they either abandon real time combat or at least get some guys who know how to fucking do it right. I want to see someone who can make real time mage combat interesting

>good mainline FF game

Sakaguchi had an interesting version of it in Terrabattle2, shame its gone along with mistwalker.

correct, those were both shit
an actual game for a change instead of something that plays itself. and full party control ffs

Don't forget VIII love story.

I would like to see Ito or Nomura as director.

I would really like it if they went back to a turn based system. Preferably something like X's but with a job system. A modern day job system where your characters keep their job outfits in cutscenes, exploration, and combat is something I've imagined for a while. Basically just make Bravely Default but without such garbage humor and art style.

Is "a good game" asking for too much?

All of them have been good, just not that good.

I hate that no one with money will ever bother to make a setting like AT 2. Where it all looks like fantastical bullshit except sometimes things look pretty mechanical like things were constructed by engineers rather than mages.

If you're willing to listen to a lecture and deepdive setting material it explains how magic works and why it works. The people who made this series went so far as to rewrite the laws of physics

>muh magic muh medieval muh knights and wizards

Go play WRPGs if you want that gay ass shit.

Xenoblade has shit like that

Bring back classes and have a lot of party members and secret party members but have roles double covered. I've always been a fan of having multiple party members and having to pick and choose who I want in my party based on their classes but I've always hated how you always need 1 certain character because they are the only healer in the game. Giving multiple options and letting you chose who you want to bring along is the best choice to me.

Secret characters are always a plus to me. Gives me an incentive to explore and do sidequests.

This. Please and thank you.

Yes

You want a movie? Why not just go play Last of Us?

>Go play WRPGs if you want that gay ass shit.
But they're creatively dead

>"It's like medieval Europe but with elves and dwarves"
>"And you might have elemental magic"
>"Oh and demons, I guess? Or just monsters. Whatever"

>calling TLOU a movie
>in an FF thread

Haha oh wow, that's rich.

>That picture
Ow

I want them to use that trailer as a concept for the game. I don't want them to literally extend the trailer and turn it into a movie.

this is why I can't get hyped for WRPGs, they're firmed stuck up tolkien's ass, I can only deal with the same orc elf dwarf so much before it gets old

And you can get hyped JRPGs?

>rumor
i also heard a rumor that they had to stop development once they realized every character was a sentient cock
completely had to scrap the story
