as someone who dismantles every controller in his collection at least once for a cleaning, when PS ions bite the dust its a fucking chore. they are awful to take apart and put back together. ps4 specifically makes you go through a ton of hoops to slide the triggers in and its a pain in the ass. I would take some AA battery holes with an optional rechargeable ANY day of the week over this shit sony's been peddling us

Same here. It seems like an obvious and relatively easy upgrade that can provide much more options for playing games. Destiny (and generally any FPS) would be a good example of a game that would benefit a lot from the back button addition. Its not like its going to cost a shit ton more like an inbuilt speaker and touch pad on the controller. Hopefully next gen it gets standardized but the modern controller set up has been like its been for ages so maybe its just gonna stay the same for a long while.
