admit it, it's oozing with soul
Admit it, it's oozing with soul
It is.
Some parts are, but it's not consistent. They even got super lazy and rehashed the partner dying.
Color Splash had a better soundtrack.
very
If by oozing, you mean "rehash SPM except without its director", make Starlow for the upteenth time and a thousand Toads that are all the same except those who wear Japanese culture, those are necessary, I don't see how.
soulfull but not good
Also, thanks for the absolutely necessary "Peach is evil/manipulated" plot, that was also necessary as well despite the fact we've already been over this before and only waters down Peach further into "she gets kidnapped, but also possessed as well", while giving you zero motivation to save her sorry ass.
Who cares? By every metric it's the best Mario RPG of all time and the first Switch exclusive worth a damn.
it's really boring, i finished the autumn area but i can't bring myself to pick it back up
>First Switch exclusive worth a damn
how can someone have so much shit taste.
And people say SPM has bad designs.
It really is, the writing is next level. If it had proper partners and a non gimmicky battle system it'd be the best paper mario hands down, as it is now it's a funny puzzle rpg but the battles and lack of clear progression really suck.
Having played about a hundred times more games than the entire rest of this board combined, my taste has evolved into one of pure perfection while you languish in casualism and fanboyism.
>Hating Origami
>Hating ballet
>Hating musicals
I love how this game is bringing all the uncultured swines out of the woodworks.
>Pure perfection
I'm afraid of asking your favorite game then.
This is the issue I'm having as well. So far the game doesn't really have any character in my opinion. The worst bit is the stationary bosses, who all feel like the laziest thing they coulda done with the idea.
I really wish someone would just sit Tanabe down and explain to him why progression in games is a good thing. The guy's autistic desire to only do progression through money and items in every game is so fucking stupid it hurts.
Sure some parts of it do. Unfortunately, the onslaught of Toads and the boring gameplay destroys that soul.
You think a man who has played over 100,000 games can only have one favorite?
Oddly enough the toads I find one of the better parts of the game, solely because I enjoy the kinda hunt to find them in the environment.
It's the "we must always do something new and different" mentality that's fucked up. You can do new things and keep the core gameplay the same. Pokemon has fucking 20 years copypaste gameplay with new bells and whistles and it's doing fine. Paper Mario's old battle system with it's varying enemies, partners, badges and action commands were inherently really fun and there was zero reason to gimmick it up.
As shitty as it sounds, people enjoy playing the same game but updated, that's why we get sequels in the first place. This drastic shift in gameplay should only happen when it's a totally new IP.
NTA , I think Toad hunting is nice since a lot of the flavor text is worth seeking out but I'd definitely prefer fewer, better hidden secrets like badges.
It's just Paper Mario and other, way more minor games produced by Tanabe like Chibi Robo and Dillon that have this issue. Both the Metroid and Donkey Kong games from Retro Studios and and the Luigi's Mansion games from NLG were able to keep the same core gameplay and iterate, and Tanabe produced all of those as well.
I hate to fall into the Zig Forums tinfoil mindset but I really do wonder if it's spite or something, it must take way more effort to come up with a nonsensical board system compared to just copypasting TTYD's battle system with new tweaks.
Same, also the gameplay is the best of any paper mario. The boss of chapter 2 does over half your healthbar in one turn if you don't block 3 hits, that's as good as M&L.
He probably can't fathom why anyone would pretend to enjoy babby's first RPG battle system. Neither can I.
>first Switch exclusive worth a damn.
Oof. I don't think gaming is your thing. Maybe ask your parents if you can try something new after school like cooking or knitting.
Good luck, champ.
Dumb casual.
Personally I'm not a fan of the combat myself. The puzzle aspect of every fight tends to be overly simplistic and theres hardly any variation or abilities to speak of besides choosing hammer or jump. I kind of miss special moves.
>no token diversity child
What a bunch of racists.
For fuck's sake, they even got a boy dressed as a girl. You can't tell me they couldn't find a black child.
>tends to be overly simplistic
It's not, you are. All the puzzles have different solutions depending on what you want to do. You can kill entire squads, or leave one unit alive for an extra turn, or use consumables to wipe the entire wave in one go.
>M-Muh pointless super jump
Like I said, a dumb casual.
reading is the white man's creation. you're racist for pushing that onto people of color
nothing soulful about "LOL THEY'RE PAPER, GET IT?" who would have thought the art style was going to ruin the series in the future
>It's not, you are. All the puzzles have different solutions depending on what you want to do. You can kill entire squads, or leave one unit alive for an extra turn, or use consumables to wipe the entire wave in one go.
One of your 'solutions' is to fail the puzzle, since you can end combat in a single turn. Your third option is basically just to skip the puzzle entirely.
Thats not really 'different solutions'
>still using the "LOL THEY'RE PAPER, GET IT?" point against the game despite it referencing paper as many times as TTYD
>TTYDfags continue shitting on new Paper Mario games for doing things that TTYD also does
Pottery
