Already have a 55 inch OLED tv with 4k 120hz and freesync. why would i want to buy this tiny inferior lcd monitor for the same price?
no 1000+nits hdr rhymes with 2019 tech
It doesn’t burn in for one.
Monitors really are a waste these days. “Muh TN response time” is no longer a thing plus everybody favors IPS which is the same as VA in response time (most TVs that aren’t super cheap or aren’t IPD it OLEF are VA) and some monitors are VA because none of the other techs have the contrast ratio or brightness needed for HDR like VA does. Even OLED can’t get very bright, not like a VA display with quantum dots. TN does have the least amount of lag though but it’s also the shittiest image. VA has poor viewing angles but the better TVs (like from Samsung) use a viewing angle and glare filter to at least match IPS in this regard.
Anyways, the pre HDMI 2.1 theoretical advantage that a display port 144hz 4K monitor had over a TV meant nothing anyways since they were practically non-existent. Most monitors top out at 1440p and are 8-bit and can’t do real HDR. Monitors are a waste of money. OLED does burn in though regardless of what people say, terrible tech for gaming. Shame Samsung is switching to it too, their higher end quantum dot LCDs have an HDMI 2.1 port and can do freesync 120hz 4K with really bright HDR and low lag in game mode, lower than the others
>hdmi 2.1 monitor
>there are currently 0 hdmi 2.1 graphics cards on the market atm
>3000 series confirmed to be hdmi 2.0
>RDNA2 cards also confirmed to be hdmi 2.0
What's the point, you'll have absolutely nothing to plug into it.
it's for consoles
Its meant for next gen consoles, and of course for pcs once they catch up in 3-4 years
Is there a benefit to HDMI 2.1 over Displayport in any way?
i've kept mine on basically 18 hours a day for a year and don't have any burn in
>Gaming monitor meant for consoles
Literally for what purpose? Those fucks are used to lag as is thanks to garbage TVs and having vsync forced at all times so why bother?
>PC never needed this nor will cuz DP is the go to plug for anything PC
HDMI needs to die already, shame it wont so DP can take over.
nope
Sorry but it is not real gaming if it isn't 1080p
>1080p
Did i wake up in 2010?
In 2010 real gamers were still on 1920x1200
Based. Power requirements for 4K vidya is meme tier. I'm not upgrading until it's as easy as 1080p.
How the FUCK is it 2020 and we still don't have OLED monitors without burn in? I've been waiting since 2006.
Don't worry, the next big marketing thing for consoles is when they invent display port.
>HDMI
I laughed.
What, you expect OLED to stop burning in for no apparent reason?
It's a flaw inherent to the technology, there's a reason TV manufacturers are so keen to ditch it and move on to MicroLED or Quantum Dots.
is microled mainstream yet
no?
ok idc
I'm using DP cable for my monitor and it can do 1440p@165hz so why can't consoles just switch to DP also?
TVs are stuck in the stone ages and only use HDMI.
Because consoles are for TV, and TVs don't want to use DisplayPort because it lacks DRM.
>DRM
Shit you're probably right. I think it's called HDCP or some shit like that.
no, 2.1 is just hdmi trying to cope with DP superiority
my friend literally bought a monitor to play nhl on for his console and now sits on a stool in front of it instead of on the couch from his tv
it's fucking hilarious
This monitor has freesync too (an that's over both DP and HDMI), plus it's packed with a load of other nice-to-haves and neat features. If you own all 3 consoles and a PC it's a must buy
>>RDNA2 cards also confirmed to be hdmi 2.0
[citation needed] when consoles are using 2.1
display port 2.0 when?
when they released the spec last year, they were expecting "late 2020" for physical product
and then a Corona Chan appeared
DP is HDCP compliant
poorfag cope
