If it's after, I guess it could make some sense. Get more players into the series with the big new release, then drop the remaster while interest is still high. Them being too close would just be sending Nocturne out to die though.
Another possibility is Nintendo helping fund it and getting some control by treating it almost like a '1st-party' exclusive, and then deciding on the release date. I'm pretty sure that Nintendo are the ones that forced worldwide and even could have funded localisation, so who knows how much control they actually have.
