What am I in for?
Just bought this action game Monster Hunter
A really fun game if you don't mind grinding for gear. You'll pretty much have to kill a monster over and over again to create weapons and armor that are effective against other monsters, so you can get their parts too, make gear that's effective against yet another monster, and continue that loop for the rest of the game. It's good, but not for everyone
inb4 thread gets deleted
If you possess a brain Monster Hunter very obviously isn't in the same category as games like Witcher, Skyrim, SMT, Xenoblade, Fallout, etc. but a classic action game, which even is the perfect antithesis to classic RPGs since you get better by actually getting better instead of increasing your level. If you drop your gear, your character is the same it ever was. There is no progress. Neither any decision making or story focus.
Do mods here even play games?
>actual good thread, aimed at discussing a game will fucking die
>bait threads get filled with degenerates and hit bump limit
Why is Zig Forums like this?
Its just a mod that has a hate boner on MH and gets off deleting threads about it,
probably that retard of Abib there were fucking souls and smt threads up all this time and no one deleted them
Big weapons
Cool monsters
Cute dodogama
Lucky for you there's a monster hunter general thread on the /vg/ board where you can discuss about the game at your hearts content! Don't forget to report the shitposts and avatarfag!
A really bland watered down rehash of a beloved series meant to pander to westerners. Prepare for mmo tier fights and hitboxes that make the the og monster hunter look good
Food porn.
Combat flow is pure shit in Iceborne, after 2000 hours I can tell you that. Capcom has to wake up or MH is dead to actual fans.
>approach monster
>roars, in cases like Nergigante sometimes twice or thrice
>finally get to fight for 20 seconds
>someone wall-bangs, fight stops
>tenderize
>monster roars
>fight continues for 10 seconds
>monster 2 enters zone, fight stops
>try to dungbomb monster
>dodge monster roar
>target monster roars at the same time and stuns you
>monster 2 roars again
>target monster roars again
>have to watch turf war
>can't even clutch onto the body because Capcom wants you to watch their scripted movie they are so proud of
>target monster leaves zone, which sometimes can mean the other end of the map
>catch up to monster
>it's sitting under an environmental trap, which someone activates
>tenderize or do mindless dps
>monster 3 enters the zone and roar-stuns you while you're at it
>equip dungbomb and go through all that again
>fight continues for 30 seconds
>long stagger for tenderizing, fight stops
>tenderize or dps
>fight continues for 10 seconds
>monster is KO, fight stops
>do mindless dps
>fight continues for 20 seconds
>someone wall-bangs, fight stops
>tenderize
>monster roars
>fight continues for 40 seconds
>Pygmies sleep and paralyze everything
>bomb monster
>fight continues for 30 seconds
>long stagger for tenderizing, fight stops
>tenderize
>fight continues for 20 seconds
>someone gets pinned, fight stops
>watch scripted movie again
>fight continues for 10 seconds
>monster stuns you with a quick roar, fight stops
>monster flees to its nest, which often means walking for a minute
>capture it
Ignoring ledges, walls, ramps, obstacles that prevent you from hitting the monster when/where you want to, bad collision and monsters constantly flying. Knowing people like arena (or Alatreon) because it has less of that, Capcom still insists on this cancer.
Based and accurate.
The game is too cinematic and artistically intact in world and I am not sure if it'll ever go away now that we got it
The claw and wall bounces along with mounts are now just free moments where you can practice your dps rotations
the 1min+ cutscenes of turf wars
the mandatory stage/zone transitions or limitations of most of the harder fights in the game
alatreon is the prime example of that
>circular volcano arena
>long flying animations where you can't really do much other then look or maybe tenderize but it may as well be a cutscene
I dno man. It's like I am more just waiting until the game allows me to play instead of the dance of death feeling I got from previous games
post more reddit screencaps or you're getting deleted
>>circular arena
That's a good thing and not cinematic, though. The rest of the world is way too crammed with ledges and other shit.
>>long flying animations where you can't really do much other then look or maybe tenderize but it may as well be a cutscene
While I agree, there are a lot of windows to hit his head with a GS at least. There are definitely better negative examples than Alatreon, especially since he can't even run away or enter a shitty turf war with other monsters and has decent defense.
Endless frustration but you’ll be in good company throughout.
refund it
grinding
retarded randos
grinding
retarded devs thinking it's a mmo
grinding
one of the worst playerbases ever
grinding
>monster flees to its nest, which often means walking for a minute
Minutes, god forbid you let the deco pinata shitogre to leave, it will nitro boost to his fucking nest and you will spend like half the time you just spent fighting getting to bumfuck nowhere it sleeps in, whoever made monsters rocket boost to nest instead of limping needs to lose his job in front of public
Fun.
who let a retard like him be a mod
Maybe if MH was a cultural phenomenon like Smash it would be allowed on Zig Forums
Mere video games belong on
chink moot
kys abib
It's more that Alatreon is extremely scripted
>Starts in a specific phase that has nothing to do with his environment, not like he starts in Ice phase because he's in the hoarfrost region
>Long winded breath attacks constantly
>Literally just breath attacks and flyby attacks
>Hard DPS check before he goes into the hard-set second phase
I feel like at this point I'm not really fighting a monster anymore but just a target dummy with choreography where the game just straight up tells me "Ok dodge the monster" "Ok now dps the monster, we've knocked it down for you" "Ok now use healing items for this mandatory phase transition"
It's not like you choose fire to melt hard chunks of ice on his jagged scales or use water to douse certain parts of his body. You just use them for dps checks in a weird attempt to force you to use elemental weapons on weapon types that usually don't go for them. Could've done it in a lot of different and more interesting ways other then dps checks
>Deviljho is faster limping than it is walking for some reason
>when in old games you could outrun him
where do i start with monhun on 3ds? 4U?
They literally do this because they are very proud of their dumb open world and this is a way to walk you through it. It's absolutely cringe
Where do I go to talk about mhfu? I'm having a blast playing this for the first time.
r/monsterhunter
sorry if you didn't have a fun time playing user
How even? FU is so outdated by today's standards I can't stomach it enough to get past the desert. Weapons barely have any attacks let alone combo potential and it's unironically clunky.
I enjoy video games. I actually wanted to play Dos but even the most extensive fan patch doesn't translate quest dialogue.
One of the most boring clunky combat systems ever featured in a game.
>f-fuck you g-git gud
It's not about difficulty, it's about fun, I didn't stop playing this piece of shit because I couldn't kill a monster, I stopped playing because it was not fun at all. Practicing more won't make the combat any less shit.
yeah, it will
It's literally the best pve action combat there is, though.
It's pretty fun, for once I actually have to commit to my attack if I wanna deal good damage. Seems fair and not a lot of games do that. Maybe you should git gud.
