Having to be in so many places at once, micromanaging 50-100 villagers in late-game, hyper micro-managing them in early game for the best start, macro military composition, micro military management, adapting to other compositions, base layout, keeping civ tech trees in mind... All at the same fucking time.
After playing a good match my brain feels like my muscles do after weightlifting. It's unreal, no RTS has given me this insane amount of brain gainz.
Terrible pathfinding, bad combat, identical factions with one unique unit and some percentile bonuses, boring start to every match as you do the same opener every single time until you age up.
Ethan Williams
And yet it's one of the best games ever made
Evan Brooks
AoE2 is great and all but it only gets the top place due to Blizzard retroactively ruining WC3. Also Byzantine best civ

How demanding DE is anyway? Can a 4th gen i5 + 8GB RAM + a low power card like 1050 hold up in team game?
Luis Walker
aoe2 is cool game to just fool around with the ai or do campaigns. don't see the appeal of playing it "seriously" against random people
Adrian Brown
>specializes in TRASH units >best civ lmao enjoy getting TURKED, just like Istanbul
Liam Campbell
>Terrible pathfinding
fixed
>bad combat
elaborate
>identical factions
you don't know shit
>boring start to every match as you do the same opener every single time until you age up.
not even close to true
Tyler Johnson
ai strategies are generic and often demonstrate zero understanding other than counter unit composition. When you play against humans there's so much more dimension to the potential strategy and counter strategy. A computer will never try to build a castle right on top of your base and a computer will never ignore that forward castle and send a bunch of knights to harass your own castle-less base. Many RTS campaigns reward a turtle based play style every single level because the AI will send waves and waves regardless of whether you have 1 turret or ten million turrets. A human might go "hmm this dude is spending all his money on turrets, I could just boom my economy instead of fruitlessly attacking" etc etc

Starcraft 2 still better
Jason Lopez
i play brood war ladder shit if i want to play serious esports faggotry not aoe2
Jack King
Why does this game have so much god damn soul?
Daniel Cox
this thread is about brain gainz, not which RTS is "better"
btw AoE2 is better tho
Cooper Kelly
Its not
Parker Lopez
AoE2 only has one faction copypasted 20 times
Anthony Martin
>it's another starcraft fags posting their wrong opinions episode
No it doesn't. Two factions can have archers, but to one archers are entirely fucking useless and for the other archers are godlike.
Different factions will have entirely different army compositions, and there are tons of units that are exclusive to a handful of factions (camels, elephants).
What has AoE2 done to you for you to tell blatant lies about it?
he looks like he belongs in a clash of clans ripoff
Grayson Brown
him v cute
Jayden Reyes
the teuton maa has extra armour / conversion resistance / can fire arrows when garrisoned and the mali maa has extra pierce armour the maya and mongol maa have no supplies upgrade also the mongol players are totally unaware the Man at Arms is even part of their tech tree
Ethan Collins
I'm just butthurt they all rook the same, i have no other complaints about this amazing game other than i actually prefering the classical era of age 1 but medieval is cool
Asher Sanchez
