Which titles in this series do you consider to be absolute must-plays? I need to know...
/OFFICIAL RESIDENT EVIL THREAD/
All of them.
Fpbp
Personal favorites are 0 1 2 4 7
With Resident Evil Village, action kino is back on the menu boys! From what I've read this new game seems like a mix of 4, 7, and Revelations. I'm very interested in where they are going to take the story with this one.
For me, it's:-
>Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
>Resident Evil 2 Remake
>Resident Evil 4
My reasons being that RE-DS is the best of the classic REs. RE4 is the best of action focused REs. While REmake 2 combines the best of both worlds. You cannot call yourself a fan until you've played and finished these three.
/thread
You can't get more based, but you might as well throw in original 2 and 3. Then you have perfection.
1,2,4,0. Also you can try the Revelation duo but be warned it's more towards action than survival horror.
I've olayed RE4 and 2 but is there anyway I can play RE:DS ? I guess it's not available for PC.
1, 2, 3, code veronica, 4, 7, remake 1+2+3 (even though 3 was a huge disappointment). I have played and love all RE, but this is about as whittled down as I can get.
4, re2make leon A, 1/REmake, 5 in co-op and the evil within
>Year of our lord anno domini 2020
>Not having a hacked 3DS that allows you to play every GBA/DS/3DS game for free
My man what are you doing with your life?
Also, Deadly Silence deserves to be played on a handheld. They utilized the hardware in impressive ways. Like you have to blow into the microphone to perform CPR on an injured teammate. PLUS there are a bunch of other improvements like a shoulder button for knife, quick reload and being able to do a 180 turn. It's a real, underrated treat and I cannot recommend it enough. It's the definitive way to experience the OG RE1. I prefer it to REmake even.
0, 1, 2, 4, 7. Don't waste your time with the rest.
Tell me about it ! Based capcom pl0x hear our prayers!
Since when did RE0 become a "must-play"? I've never played it but it always seemed like a cheap spin-off to me.
What you should play? Well...
I think you should play RE1, the original, while the Remake is a god tier game (play that too), the original is basically a cult classic, the bad but iconic acting and the live action really add to the experience, it's a B-movie popcorn flick. Also the way the mansion is eerily lit with angle shots like it's the mansion from The Shining, absolutely.
Also play the DS version of 1!! Is the definitive pocket edition, really, it's convenient and cool, and it's not castrated. They planned also a DS version of 2 a long time ago but it never came. But hey! PS1 emulation on 3DS is making progress so who knows?
Then 2, absolutely, 3 also, the Remake of 2 too, though it's not a remake, more of a Re-Imagine with sailors cussing. RE3 Remake is shit, don't fucking play it.
4, I would suggest the Wii version with the Zapper, really helps. Or alternatively the HD Project on PC, those two dudes did an incredible job.
5, also, it's a mid 00s action movie basically, BUT play it in co-op.
I would recommend Darkside Chronicles because it has three campaigns, one which is a literal 1/1 remake of 2, a re-telling of Code Veronica, and a brand new story about Leon. Though it's up to you, most people will screech if you mention it.
I haven't played anything else, sorry. These are my recommendations, though. Picture of Ada included.
Deadly Silence looks like fun.
>Leaving out 5
It never clicked with me. I thought the gameplay sucked big time and the only redeeming factor were the graphics. The menus and picking up items felt sluggish. The item system was frustrating because rooms didn't have a high enough item drop limit, and the backtracking was all too tedious. I hate how some items took up two slots. It is already bad enough each character has six slots. There needed to be item boxes. It's amazing that REmake and Zero came out in the same year but REmake blows Zero out of the water. It really goes to show that gameplay makes or breaks games (obviously). I will likely never return to 0.
>finish RE2make
>really excited to play pic related
>boot it up
>installation in ps4 is all funky, pay no mind
>long ass intro with too little significant input from player
>they didn't even bother to remove the mouse cursor from the item menu
>no subweapons
>dont even notice when health is in danger
>zombies are faster but aiming is slightly slower
>abuses examine mechanic for little boxes for no reason you could just put the item there instead of the box
I'm having a hard time trying to like this game as much as RE2, and I have a feeling it's gonna end fast.
Only 1, 4, and 7.
Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, 4, REmake 2002.
Anything made after 2009 is pure and utter garbage.
>Code Veronica
Redpill me on Code Veronica. Is it worth a playthrough?
All the Shinji Mikami games, so everything up to RE5.
REmake
Deadly Silence
REmake 2
RE2 original
RE3 original
RE4 HD
RE5 Gold
List of good RE games: Deadly Silence, REmake, 2, RE2R, 3, 4, Rev2
List of bad RE games: 0, RE3R, CV, Rev1, 7
List of ok RE games: 5, 6
And then you have mostly shitty spin-offs but there are some gems in there. OP I hope this helps.
you telling me gaiden is a must play?
Imagine the cool interactions they could have done with a Deadly Silence RE2. Fuck Capcom man...
It's the ORIGINAL "Resident Evil 3", but the numbering was removed because Capcom wanted to keep the main-line games Playstation exclusives for the time being.
It's a crucial step in the storyline.
REmake,2,4,7
I Think It covers everything for someone that want to start the series.
Classic,Action and FPS styles at their best examples. Also i choose REmake over OGRE1 Just because It is the perfect example of a good remake on general.
>List of ok RE games: 6
opinion goes into trash
Mikami had nothing to do with Gaiden. It was outsourced project.
I'll never get over the fact they actually paid to put the poorly made RE ports in Nintendo's E3 show last year only for them to get no positive PR from it.
It's not that good. Strong beginning, but the story devolves into jrpg-levels of incoherent trash. It's only slightly better than 0.
>I Think It covers everything for someone that want to start the series.
No. What the fuck is up with that illogical bullshit??
If you want to start a new series, you obviously play the first game, and work your way up.
he was an "advisor" on gaiden
Why leave people with the Sweet taste of she Will never come back again?
Must plays:
>REmake
>RE4
>REmake2
>RE7
Strongly Suggest Reading:
>RE2
Suggested Reading:
>RE3
>RE5
>RE
Skip this shit:
>RE0
>REmake3
>RE:CV
>RE6
The must-plays best capture the different approaches the franchise has taken through its history. Consider them the onboarding package for dipping your toes into the series. RE2 is an all-time classic and my personal favourite but it wasn't as influential on the rest of the series as my must-plays. RE6 is worth playing if you can rope a friend into playing it with you. It's a trainwreck but it's a hilarious trainwreck.
RE1:DC (not the "Dual Shock" version!)
RE2
RE3
RE:CV
REmake
RE0
RE4
RE5
All except 6.
Hell no. Gameplay wise its the worst in the series (not counting spin-offs) by far. This game is so fucking bad on so many levels that the only good thing about it is the story. Better to play the Darkside Chronicles version.
In this ADHD generation?
Good luck with that.
>DEmake2 and RE7
>"must plays"
>lists DE3make as a skippable, eventhough it's legit the same shit as the two above
>literally skipping all the important OG games
This zoomer mentality is cancerous as fuck.
>But hey! PS1 emulation on 3DS is making progress so who knows?
>Mfw there might come a day I'll have a portable RE2
Ahhh... let a man dream. Also, why haven't you played 7? It was on sale recently (PS4) so I was able to grab it for 10$.
stick to fortnite with your shit taste
The PC port of RE1 with the Classic REbirth patch is really good too. It's super smooth and 100% stable in my experience, and adds a quick turn feature.
Not him, but I started playing RE-series for the first time ever back in late 2015 with the PC port of the REmake, and loved it so much, I played it 4 times in a row that month. Afterwards I played original RE2-4, and had great time.
I guess it helped that I'd just couple years earlier gotten into the Silent Hill series, which are definitely some of my all time favorite games nowadays.
based
boomers seething
If you want a broad strokes overview of the franchise my must-plays are the best bet while minimizing redundancy. You don't need to like it, but what I say is the truth.
>Also, why haven't you played 7?
My last home console is a 360 and my last handheld a N3DS, I basically played also with my potato laptop for years lol. I wanted to buy a PS4, long ago, but with the games going slowly all on computer I left it. When I build a PC one day I might play it.
Play Deadly Silence and 4. That's all.
>what I say is the truth
>I AM RIGHT YOU ARE WRONG!!!
Definitely the kid generation.
>Shinji Mikami will never direct another Resident Evil
Feels bad man.
He completely decimated you though.
There are rumors that the remake of 4 is going to be outsourced as well, instead of being internally developed by Capcom and that honestly pisses me off.
