Ok, plot holes with the Akechi plan:
1. Akechi surely would have been informed that he didn't actually kill anyone as there are no bodies in the real world interrogation room. He would have been fooled, but only for a day at most before realizing Joker is still alive.
2. Sae and Joker escaped from the Police HQ in the middle of Tokyo, how did nobody notice her walking out with the countries most wanted criminal?
3. Sae was off the case, the entire plan hinged upon her deciding to come and interrogate him, which she might not have on a whim.
4. The SIU Director simply could have denied her access to the interrogation room.
5. Joker could have been unconscious because of the drugs and the beatings, or perhaps forgotten the plan entirely and failed to convince Sae.
6. They needed to time Akechi and Sae meeting each other at a very specific point in the hallway so the guard couldn't witness them disappearing into the Metaverse. If Sae had stayed in the interrogation room for even 5 seconds longer the plan wouldn't have worked because the Guard would have seen them disappear.
7. The Phatom Thieves just assume that they wont also be targeted next by Akechi after he kills their leader. Luckily he doesn't, pure plot contrivance.
8. Akechi decides not to arrest or put the other Phantom Thieves under surveillance despite knowing their identities, having evidence, and being aware that they could easily strike back and get revenge if they desired.
9. Akechi decides to not send anyone to investigate their hideout at Leblanc despite having more than enough evidence for a search warrant and even the right to arrest the other Thieves.
10. We saw that in Sae's Palace there were no cognitive people outside her Casino, the entire city was deserted and all the cognitive people appeared inside her palace. How were the Thieves sure that Joker would be an exception to this rule and have a perfect cognitive replica inside the interrogation room instead of inside her palace?

To understand how fucking great Ryuji is all you have to do is look at the events between Madarame and Kaneshiro's palace. The Phantom Thieves are being blackmailed by a bitch of a student council president who is gonna expose them if they don't do what she says. While they're scouting for info said bitch does something incredibly stupid and is now in danger. Now, at this point Ryuji doesn't like Makoto, he has no reason to. But once waving down a taxi doesn't work he doesn't hesitate for a second before jumping in front of a fucking car in order to stop one so they can chase after her. Ryuji doesn't get any praise for that, it isn't commented on, it's instantly forgotten once they meet Kaneshiro. But it was a goddamn hero moment.

I'm not reading all this shit but i probably agree with you. my main complaint with this entire half baked twist is that apparently the characters I'm playing as every waking moment of their lives put together this scheme without me, the player, being aware of it. having it depend on the player not noticing that obvious giant flashing stupid pancake hint was stupid as hell too. it's a fun game but the writing is godawful in the latter half

After the first palace I thought Ryuji was on track to eclipse Junpei as the best supporting character in the new Personas but he devolves into the generic retarded comic relief character immediately after. It's like an entirely different writing team wrote everything after the first palace.

7, 8 and 9 are the most shocking. You'd think the entire PT would have to go off the grid but none of them do shit. Especially Futaba, who Akechi knows damn well is one of the best cybercriminals in the county at that point.
