Didn't it have a revival? I'm pretty sure the combat was reworked and you can play through the whole thing in single player now

its such a tragedy that this game was created as an MMO. If it would have an RPG or some advneture or best a shock-like game. It would have created a whole saga of games.

The world, the characters the ambient... its soo good.

I have played the original and the legends variant nad i still think its kinda worth for the single player experience. Its just so fun. The combat is not the best part, thats for sure.

I'd rather kill myself. Fuck anyone who thinks the relaunch is any good. Objective step down in quality and game design from the original in EVERY measurable way. They literally only remade it to squeeze the last 3 whales left in the game out of all their money. Don't forget:

>Have to pay for subscription to loot enemies
>All loot in game is opened with keys, which have limits and have to be bought or farmed
>Have to pay for a subscription to trade with other players
>Have to pay for a subscription to use cabal banks
>Starting inventory is more limited than the original, can only be expanded slightly with free currency before you have to pay for each additional slot
>Old gear system replaced with new system that takes actual real life months to get your gear to max tier, only way to grind is to consume other gear pieces for shit exp or pay TWENTY dollars on EVERY SINGLE GEAR UPGRADE, OF WHICH THERE ARE TONS from basic to full
>Even dungeon/simulation chests are locked behind keys
>New combat system has absolutely no synergies, entirely gear based, passives are designed to only work with 1 skill as opposed to the old system of entirely interchangeable actives and passives that applied to a wide variety of skills
>Story/dialogue changes that streamline the main story, taking away the mystery and dragging you from one NPC to the next
>Levels and level requirements added, meaning the story drags you to your next NPC just to tell you you're not high enough level to proceed, didn't work that way in the original
>Remake launches without multiple endgame raids, dungeons, story content, and nearly all of the pvp zones except the least popular one
>Still doesn't have most of this content

If you play the relaunch, you're playing a cash grab that is less accessible, more grindy version of the original with lower quality and LESS CONTENT. Their main writers have all quit too, so you're never ever going to get a satisfying end for the main story.

Yeah, they remade the game in Secret World Legends, which is what I assume OP is suggesting? The gameplay is more 3rd person shootan but with magic, melee and guns, rather than the old WoW "wait for ability cooldown" spam, so it's actually pretty comfy. They dumbed down the skill system somwhat but the story and settin is interesting, shit's all free and you can take it for a co-op spin with a friend. I'd recommend it.

Well, if the grandmaster was for the original game, I'd say you missed out actually. I had well over 7k hours in the original TSW, maybe even 10k. Community was incredible, the game was amazing, and despite popular opinion I'd say the combat was great too (in a traditional RPG sense, maybe not the most fluid). It genuinely hurts my soul that the game is gone, I still dream about it sometimes. I'll never praise the original enough.

But that's also why I make sure to hop in these threads and let people know what a waste the remake was. I could have kept listing problems but I kept hitting the character limit. Such a fucking tragedy.

I bought it years ago, once it went B2P and tried to rebrand itself. I genuinely loved the investigation quests and how many felt like ARGs, but the optimization was garbage and the combat was ass. I also remember the one dungeon I did taking forever, but that very easily could've just been the group I was in being shit. I'm surprised it's still alive. Is it full F2P yet?

SWL actually has a pretty stable, although not by any means huge, player base. Content's still getting released, even if it's of a noticeably lesser quality than the classic issues.

lets not pretend old combat system was good
all the synergies were passive and all builds were just builder 5x + spender 1x rinse and repeat
it was fun to build but boring as fuck to actually play, if TSW Legends was just the new combat system with everything else left unchanged it'd been great, especially with vanilla difficulty level (when the game didnt treat you like a retard and you had to gear and build for solo leveling cotent)

It's neat having you in a raid boss encounter in the character creation intro. Gives that fight some weight and sense of accomplishment once you reach and finish it. Yeah yeah, I know it's not hard at all. gb2I Wanna Be The Guy

So I'm looking into this and it looks like the relaunch is treated as an entirely different game? It's been at least 5 years since I played, probably close to 7, and I only remember getting to Egypt before getting bored. Still, I bought the game. Usually in these cases, people who got the game before it went f2p get free shit, but it looks like they want you to start completely fresh.

It really should not have been an MMO.
The setting, the missions, the investigations, all 10/10. Just the combat let it down.

Iirc you unlock some cosmetics with your account from the old game, but other than that it's 100% start from scratch.

I miss TSW. I won't say that Legends is garbage, since ARGs and the story are still there. So, yes, play SWL if you are curious. I recommend playing with a friend if you can.

I played quite a bit of the original too, but I couldn't get any of my friends to play it with me though, I don't think I've ever had more fun in a video game than doing the detective quests, which is a bit sad but it was so refreshingly fun.

Aren't the original game servers still there? I swear I logged in on my character like a month or two ago and was really confused they were still alive.

There were faction missions, weren't there? Can you co-op those if you both are the same faction? Because if not there's really no reason to both go with the same crew, better to pick the ones you think are cool and share story tidbits from the various factions with your buddy.
If I recall there are still one or two servers operating, but they're pretty much deserted and mostly up for achi/vanity item grinding.

The thing I heared about it were intresting setting and that (some of) the quests were really intresting and out of the box. Can you really play and experince it alone now ?

Yeah, the whole game, except for the raid and 4-man instances, is doable singleplayer now. And there's actually a party finder for the group stuff now. Tanking is shit easy, just use the aggro grab abilities instead of the dps ones, and your queue time will be instant.
