Honestly they can revisit ideas but the problem is that Sonic Team is either extremely lazy or incompetent, or both
i feel like you could pitch them the perfect idea and they would still manage to fuck it up, i mean we have had Sonic racing games, fighting games, mario party clones, whatever Heroes was, a god of war clone, an attempt at a shitty hack and slash, and RPG, lots of ideas around platforming, multiple characters, guns, vehicles etc.
it's literally a franchise that has tried and failed at everything because they aren't good at their job
