Devil May Cry series

Just finished 5.

Honestly, I think it remains 3 > 5 > 1 > 4 > 2 to me. The final areas/bosses in the 5th game are great, but nothing beats the level and boss design of DMC3.

Yes.

It's 4>5>3>1>2 for me, though, based strictly on a first playthrough, I'd agree with your ranking.

yeah ive only beat 5 and 3 once each but 3 definitely felt better to me in terms of level design and structure. dmc 5's gameplay and graphics were top tier but i didn't really enjoy playing as v that much and it felt just a tad short and boring in terms of locations

Why is 4 always so low on everybody's list? Just because of the same bosses and levels for dante's part? Gameplay was fun music was and tone was great. And it was awesome to see how nero reacted to the bosses vs how dante did. And it introduced on the fly style switching. I loved the setting too

3 has some of the worst bosses in the series and 5 feels too much like it coasts on fan service. 1 is still king

I think 5 is better than 3. While I agree the level design is mostly better in 3 than in 5, I strongly disagree about boss design. 3 has some big duds. Gigapede. Heart of Leviathan. Arkham. 3 also has some gimmicky bosses that aren’t that great, like Doppelgänger, Lady, and Geryon. Also, Vergil 1 is stupidly easy.

So what does that leave? Cerberus, which is just okay. Agni & Rudra, which is fun. Nevan, Beowulf, Vergil 2, and Vergil 3, which are fantastic.

I don’t see how that lineup beats DMC5, unless you’re really holding the V fights (and Qliphoth Roots) against it.

5 edges out 3 for me as the best simply because of the new Cerberus moveset. Nero is also really fun now.

unironically too hard to play as Dante. I mean you actually have TOO MANY options instead of too few. plus his beowulf knock-off sucked big dick, it had hardly any punch to it, and the rose weapon was weird too, could never figure out how to use it.
For me:
5 > 3 > 1 > 4 > 2

1 > the rest

>Why is 4 always so low on everybody's list?
It's half a game and Nero was boring in it

honestly for 3 the only bosses I liked were Beowulf, Vergil2+3, and A&R. All the others aren't interesting to fight over and over.

I like pretty much like all the bosses in 5 though minus Gilgamesh.

Nothing really stands out in 4, well except Credo, fighting him was baller

>gears 5
Why?

Gears is one of the few pvp shooters I genuinely love to play. There isn't much of a community for any of the past entries. So my options are limited.

Overall: 5>3>4>1>2

Gameplay: 5>4>3>1>2

Level design: 3>1>5>4>2

Story: 3>5>1>4>2

Replayability: 5>3>1>4>2

Platinum difficulty: 2>3>1>5 (have 4 on PS3 without trophies)

agreed. also the tight story really helps. the context made the duel with vergil even more awesome

Sorry, ranked from easiest to hardest on Platinum difficulties. As should be obvious from the order, but not from my description.

Yeah, that's fair enough. Ironically enough I've usually only played Gears for the campaigns, aside from Gears 3 where I dabbled in the multiplayer for a few months

Bosses were average. Dante gameplay was kino however none of the bosses and enemies were designed for him. None of the SE characters besides Vergil felt good to play too.

Vergil 1 and 3 are both kino af. Vergil 2 isn’t kino, but it’s still fun. And a much more interesting fight than Vergil 1.

Is it worth getting 4SE if I’ve already played base 4 a crapload of times? I kinda feel like I don’t have the full DMC experience without 4SE, but I have 1, 2, 3SE, 4, and 5.

t. Kamiyafags are still seething over the fact Itsuno made a better game(s)

Yes definitely. Vergil is pretty good. Lady and Trish are experimental at worst fun at best. You should definitely buy it for the fact Vergil alone imo.

Nobody asked, loser.

How different is Vergil from 3SE?

Vergil is retardedly OP in 4. He literally melts through the game, he has an obscene DPS. He has a massive toolkit with some extra moves, and just seems more flexible with his Darkslayer style.

He has some extra moves carried from DmC.

Play bloody palace in DMC3, then you'll realize that most of the enemies suck, then it'll be 5 > 3 > 1 > 4 > 2

>nobody mentions Kamiya or Itsuno
>trying to stir shitposting anyway
Alright bud

Seeing as there is a thread about the games and nobody has mentioned it. Is DmC Devil May Cry worth playing?

It has its pros, mostly in its visual design. I honestly don't think it's too bad, but the vitriol towards it is definitely justified. If you see it cheap you can do worse

yes it's still worth. it's not that bad desu but i can see why people shit on it

>1
>Ranked higher than 4.
I refuse to believe anyone has fun playing DMC1 due to how archaic is feels. The game has good aesthetics and enemies for sure but when jumping and attacking feel like complete ass, I honestly cannot understand how people enjoy it compared to the recent games.

Thanks. I saw it cheap, might get it.
