Do you like the SGI models or do you just stick with Cleaner Aesthetics?
Also why does free camera turn itself off sometimes. Like in the Haunted House and Bowser levels. It's stupid, if I turn on free camera I want free camera dammit
Mario 64 thread
SOUL
btw where do the builds drop? preferrably precompiled ones
Just compile it yourself with sm64pcbuilder2. It's pretty easy. Takes a while the first time though since MSYS2 has to download a bunch of shit for itself.
It only works visually when combined with the garish lighting and textures of the rendered scenes.
no it looks like shit. also hey arent actual SGI models, they are a poor attempt at recreating them. less poly, and the animations dont look good
looks like absolute shit are you fags retarded
>less poly
They have a perfectly reasonable amount of polygons.
>and the animations dont look good
The animations are unchanged and the models aren't really rigged, they're still separate static chunks for every body part. With that considered, it looks better than it has any right to.
feeling sleepy bros...
God it looks so horrible, what the fuck is wrong with the vanilla game?
I really like the idea but it won't work until they also add in the shaders and adjust the maps to fit in with the pre-rendered anesthetics the images had, I hope they manage to achieve the look someday because it'd be fucking amazing
guys we did it. we finally got Mario 64 to look like the CGI renders
Looks like shit, stop posting it.
DKC next?
Surely there's enough source material to uncompress all the models and textures used in that game.
If they ever actually remade Mario 64(I liked the DS version, but im talking big budget), I'd want it to look like the actual SGI models, not this trash.
The whole reason why OP's shit can exist is the SM64 decompilation finished recently. No such thing for DKC, so don't count on it.
If they ever remade Mario 64, you'd get sanitized bullcrap perfectly matching the reference sheets instead, because god forbid anything in Mario goes off-model ever again.
i cant believe Wario is fucking dead
even if they wanted to they cant make something this high poly with this shading. especially on Nintendo hardware
I didn't say it was likely, or currently possible, I just said that it's what I'd want.
>tfw you have a computer that can make those slick SGI models officially.
Use the sm64nxbuilder instead a lot more noob friendly.
has anybody actually seen the wario apparition? or proved each cartridge was personalized?
NX fucking sucks don't do it
Buggy with SGI, shitty menus and incomplete options. EX is so so so much better.
That's SGI too! I always believed the were sculpturrs.
That shading actually is less resource intensive than what most modern engines are doing. No games are using it because it's not "realistic" and old.
The hardest part here is getting the models running at a good framerate when they're that high quality. We could get something nearly identical within newer engines. We aren't seeing it with these SM64 PC mods because the way it's coded doesn't allow it to be done properly so it results in all these wonky workarounds.
I don't mind a lower framerate, it would give it a feeling of being done in claymation.
The SGI mod looks fucking awesome, fuck what any faggot here has to say. The only thing that looks bad is the chain chomp.
>also hey arent actual SGI models
Wasn't the Mario SGI model datamined out of something?
>That shading actually is less resource intensive than what most modern engines are doing.
what makes you say that? renders like that were usually done with ray tracing
I just play the game.
Sometimes I play rom hacks but mostly I just replay the randomiser trying to get at least 70 stars.
No idea what else you're talking about.
>poor attempt at recreating them
first of all, what makes them "poor attempts"
second of all, did you REALLY expect them to be able to get the original promo render models for mario and luigi or some shit?
The ray tracing only plays a noticeable role with reflections, you can easily fake it and barely anyone could tell you the difference.
