Startopia. There is a cash grab looking "re-imagining" in the works right now.

The Witcher 3, made by the same developers of Cyberpunk 2077

What the fuck is up with that company behind it? They made those Dungeon games that are like inferior ripoffs of Dungeon Keeper from what I heard, then they buy the rights to Startopia which was made by former Bullfrog members that had formed Mucky Foot productions. Are the guys behind Dungeons and this Startopia new game former Bulfrog members too or they just have some strange deal going where they try to ride Bullfrog's coattails?

I don't think there is any real connection. Maybe just weird fanboys. Though when someone pointed out that the game looked kind of shit and the aliens had no connection with Startopia, they said the game was just an inspiration. Despite have Startopia right in the name.

I think they have bought the rights to Startopia, I watched a video of it and they said it was a new game in the franchise, something to that effect. I think that name must be trademarked, sure you can make some blatant ripoffs these days, but they're literally reusing the name of that franchise.

this game was great but sadly quickly forgotten

It didn't have meme potential like hollow shite because it's part of a series of good games

It's very similar to certain Shantae games but they get 50x more attention due to coomer content in them, while this is way better than all fanservice games pretty much.

>similar to certain Shantae games
yeah, Shantae is a monster world knock off, always has been

Which is why it's such a cop-out to say the original is just an inspiration. They want it both ways. I assume they just got the name for easier marketing.

is it a roguelike?

it is, there is quite a lot of content divided in multiple pirates, quests for each pirate and maps

Pretty simple though. First one is free.
