Terrible gameplay but fantastic music, great characters with great voice acting, and a good story. Some tips: do everything you can in part 1 cause you replay part 2 three times and it sucks seeing the one quest you forgot to finish in your journal after all that time. Also, spears are broken both for movement and combat.

While the button mashing isn't very engaging, Taro put a lot of effort into making the gameplay very fun, going from 3D to 2D platformer, to shmups, to rail shooter, etc...
Even the boss fights all have their special gimmicks.

Mediocre gameplay you’ll want to break with the Phoenix Spear ASAP, but everything else in that game is damn near 10/10 with the characters, story, and OST being the real highlights.
