When are we going to finally get a good Wii U port?

if they just removed the shitty control gimmick it might actually be a good game. fuck miyamoto

Really seems like Miyamoto was actively sabotaging Star Fox at this point. I remember in an old Star Fox 64 strategy guide, he seemed excited and passionate about the franchise. Wonder what happened between 64 and Adventures to make him hate it.

Literally worse than kid icarus controls but, I'd still play the crap out of it

Nah, even outside of controls, that game has a lot of problems. Boring copter stealth levels, antiquated design choices, complete regression in the Star Fox (admittedly insane) worlds and character dynamics, really bare bones structure, general lack of variety in content, and awful GameCube tier visuals.

Really, if they’re gonna go through the trouble to change the control scheme, just make a new game. There isn’t much worth salvaging here.

>kills smash ultimate
i've never played a starfox game but main fox. where do i start?

Boss battle dogfights were fucking torture without a minimap.

Play 64

Star Fox 64 is literally all that you need to concern yourself with

For a big company it should not be THAT hard to make a good SF game

>Forget Zero and shit, just make a direct sequel to 64, a year or so later, not a huge ass timegap like Adventures, wtf?
>Normal story, all levels are speed based, no bullshit slow as fuck puzzle levels
>Alternate paths, optional bosses, you know it
>Be able to choose any of the 4 fuckers
>Add couch co op, 4P starfox is my dream, why is it SO FUCKING HARD?!
>No bullshit controls or gimmick
>4P versus too, if it is fun, it can be a good online distraction
>Add some subtle shit like unlockable characters in story mode, outfits, Arwing customization.

I mean, I guess they do want something NEW and refreshing but sometimes, it´s best to keep it simple, Nintendo contradicts themselves. "OH NO, CAN´T HAVE ANOTHER F ZERO IF IT´S THE SAME SHIT AS BEFORE, OH YEAH, BUT POKÉMON IS FINE, WE CAN DELIVER A MEDIOCRE GAME EVERY YEAR CAUSE IT MAKES US RICH AS FUCK"

Jesus

Play 64 for traditional StarFox

Play Adventures if you want land combat and Krystal

This. Even if you fixed the controls, you'd still only have an average at best game. May as well just play 64 at that point.

At this point Nintendo needs to pick a timeline and stick to it.

64 is the one they keep going back to and milking for a reason. It's an all time classic. The rest range from shitty to okay.

yeah that is kind of fucked isn't it. as long as a sequel is just the last one but a bit more/better im fine with it. I understand if nintendo doesn't want that but they sure do make an exception for pokemon, cause it's the most profitable franchise of all time.

I have Lylat wars and Star fox 3d both on cart and haven't played either of them.
Which is better?

Why not make a new game entirely instead? Make it a prequel or some shit, explore Fox's father story or whatever

The controls are baffling because even if they were positively well received, the Switch would've made them abandoned them anyways

The best bet is a Jungle Beat scenario. Where they essentially make a whole new game based around the same assets.

You can tell when someone hasn't played Star Fox Zero when they suggest simply removing the motion controls. It's just not possible considering how many of the bosses were designed around the dumb aiming system, and you were heavily punished if you tried to play the game normally.

That won't work, the gamepad is intrinsically tied to the experience. All of the bosses are in all-range mode and have you flying TOWARD the camera, there are segments where you have to deploy a drone to do shit and go into little corridors while also moving around, etc. They'd have to redesign the whole game. Zero isn't that great to begin with, it's just a shittier version of 64.

>Wonder what happened between 64 and Adventures to make him hate it.

Probably the same thing that made Ted Turner cancel SwatKats

I can tell you haven't played Star Fox Zero since you literally can turn off the motion controls.

Me too. I've noticed I get really into franchises that have a similar structure in its games, then build on it like Castlevania or Mega Man.
The Miyamoto philosophy of throwing out the baby with the bathwater is something I couldn't disagree with more.

Why do you Zero apologists make such disingenuous lies all the time? You CANNOT fully disable the motion controls, retard. The closest you can get is either playing in co-op mode (which doesn’t give you the full range of controls just off one controller) or by keeping the game pad on a flat surface like you’re playing some shitty arcade setup.

There is NO way to get SF64-like controls in Zero. Stop bullshitting like you can. Nobody believes you when the game has been out for four years already.

Krystal’s design is so shit and out of place. I wish Dinosaur Planet happened.

>Starfox Prequel
>Alternate timeline endings
I'd play that.

>There is NO way to get SF64-like controls in Zero.
Who said there was? Keep clinging to the past boomer.

if they took out the shitty controls, wouldn't it just be a remake of 64?

>at this point
he cancelled 2 for a dumb reason

64 is the only good one

3D World next January. Zelda Remasters eventually.

That's it.

the problem with star fox is on rail shooters don't sell anymore

theyd have to make a fully open world star fighter game, and that's incredibly hard and expensive
