None of my favorite games have microtransactions

>Pay money to grind for cosmetics
Lmao

>there was once a time all you just had to do was play the game to unlock cosmetics

>not only have to pay but also have to grind
what went wrong...

>have to buy a fucking pass to even get said items
Fuck battle passes I rather grind warframe night wave at least all of it it's free.

I honestly wouldn't mind things like battlepasses or cosmetics or whatever if they were actually reasonably priced. but they never are. they are always way to expensive for what they are. some games want you to spend 20+ fucking bucks for some skins, like are you fucking insane? And battlepasses are almost always 10-15+ bucks, which is also fucking stupid.

Skins should only be a MAX of like 3 bucks and battlepasses a max of about 5 bucks. I can't stand that people actually willingly pay for skins that are more than 10 bucks, let alone some people who spend 100 bucks easily on "skin bundles" or whatever other bullshit. It's just sickening. I guess you could argue I shouldn't want to spend any money on skins like I suggested I'd buy skins if they were cheaper. I don't buy skins at all, but I'm just saying I'd be more inclinded to buy a cool skin for 1 or 2 bucks instead of the actually highway robbery pricing of 20 dollar skins.

I've gotten the ones in Magic Arena since they introduced them. But thanks to the way the game is structured I've only ever put $5 into the game for a little gem boost to buy the first. I bought the rest from the gems from the passes and by doing drafts with my free gold.

yes but you get 10x the value minimum

>optional
>not gambling
>requires effort
>isnt pay-to-win
>sometimes give you exclusives maps and to play on giving incentive other than cosmetics
I'll take it over loot boxes anyway as long as they don't do anything else scummy.

Though along with

>10x value
>Shitty skins everyone has
>Value
>Skins
>Stickers
>Sprays
>Value
Lmao
Lmao

Never bought a single battle pass, other than for my dad for cod mw, but he completed them in like 5-10 days because of how much he played so it was worth it I guess.

this season they upped their game. level 100 skins r worth it honestly

...

The only thing about Passes is that the end tier costume is only worth it until the pass is almost over and everyone has the same skin

>paying with real money
>for the privilege of grinding
I don't really play multiplayer games, and I sure as hell avoid games that feels like work with their battlepass and other shit like that.
Having to focus on one game because I spent money to grind useless shit, all of that in a limited timeframe to exploit the natural human's fear of missing out? No thanks, this is not my idea of fun.

No and no. I don't have the time to grind that shit. Most I got was like level 15 in one of the apex ones. Buying them is pointless unless you can no-life that shit and even then you're paying for digital objects.

The worst part is you can't even just buy the shit outright now, its buy to be able to do a time limited unlock. What fucking giga-satan thought this shit up?

I know the battle passes for Fortnite and Apex Legends give you enough funbux to buy the next one if you complete it. If you grind enough you only need to pay once.

>>sometimes give you exclusives maps and to play on giving incentive other than cosmetics
did you have a stroke? what are you on about

not to mention, they dont let you level up a skin when the season ends like you could in 7, 8 and 9, you either grind now or you're locked out of a style forever

Honestly, it made me realize how much I don't care about skins and never bought any of them ever again with games that use those systems. The idea of people getting the exact same unlocks for the exact same time investment and money doesn't appeal to me.

Yes the apex battlepass gives you 1000 apex coins and the battlepass costs you 950. You can complete it in 1 month and half .
I completed all 5 BP and it went all smoothly , the 4th I complete it even I didn't play it for a month

>What fucking giga-satan thought this shit up?
Psychologists hired by corporations.
It's really simple when you think about it. All you have to do is make your consumer base pay for a product they can only unlock by playing your game, and put a time limit on those unlocks.

Then BOOM! You got the sunk cost fallacy and the FOMO all in one neat package. Might be also pumping artificially your user base to show to your investors that your game is still worth investing in. Although, a lot of players aren't playing the game because they have fun with it though. It's because they don't want to feel like they have wasted their money and time in the battlepass because they didn't play enough.

someone tell grandpa what a battlepass involves

How many hours was that and how much time was spent doing challenges on shit characters or shit guns? I fucking struggled getting 15 on the freebie version.

i disagree, this is important and interesting

fucking psychologists man...

I buy them before I even start playing the game for the day 1 benefits but I rarely have the patience or time to complete the challenges or get the playtime to actually get anywhere. I couldn't name a game where I actually got to the last tier.

It's a levelup system that gives you rewards each level, exp for it is earned by various things in game and with challenges like getting x number of headshots with gun y in a round.

I'm also sure it is aimed primarily at children or teenagers. I'm an adult and I don't feel the FOMO or sunken cost fallacy. I'm not going to go, "Fuck I spent 10 dollars in this, I better play it for the next 500 hours". I quit as soon as I don't have fun anymore, because anything else would be a waste of my time which no amount of money can replace. Same with FFXIV. I've played it for 100 hours and when the realization hit me that it is primarily a singleplayer game I quit it instantly without any sunken cost/time fallacy that would cause me to think "I can't let it go to waste, I need to keep playing". I'm very convinced that adults aren't the target demographic of this sort of thing.

Basically you're buying a complete bundle of skins, sprays, and other cosmetics. Instead of just getting the cosmetics right off the bat you basically have to level up and gain xp to unlock 60 tiers of loot. So basically you're just cosmetics and items to grind out in a video game since content is lacking in most modern games.

Only my spare cents on some tf2 hats

I don't play games with MTX.

>yes goyim, pay to grind for at least 50 hours in hour game EVERY SINGLE SEASON
fuck you

>I'm also sure it is aimed primarily at children or teenagers.
Exactly. This system target anyone with poor impulse control, so they are the most vulnerable to it.
