You're probably going to get walled HARD in a couple of places, it's possible to get past those places on a first playthrough but it's more built for NG+ loops.

Don't do a virgin run, it's not worth it. Also, check the guide map, I accidentally completely skipped like 3 areas I was supposed to go through which explained why the level curve was so fucked at times.
Also, if you're really having a hard time after meeting the King, Fumika's house has some chests with great equipment in them if you exit stage right.
