The MG is notorious for its recoil making it very inaccurate at full auto, even when mounted. It compensates for this with a high RPM. Since a machine gun's purpose is to "lock down" a certain sector with fire, its inaccuracy was never really that big of a drawback. It will, however, make it borderline useless when fired from an upright position.
