You could have gone with wyvirgin, just like you are.

Smaug was a dragon in the books. They ruined him in the Hobbit movies but luckily that was the least of their problems.

Why did they change it? In one of the trailers you could clearly see he had 4 legs separate from wings.

Wyverns are dragons.

Funny thing is, old man Tolkien himself said how a dragon should look like

>A serpent creature, but with four legs and claws; his neck varied in length but had a hideous head with long jaws and teeth or snake tongue. He was usually heavily armoured especially on his head and back and flanks. Nonetheless he was pretty bendable (up and down or sideways), could even tie himself in knots on occasion, and had a long powerful tail. . . . Some had wings - the legendary kind of wings that go together with front legs (instead of being front legs gone queer). ... A respectable dragon should be 20 ft or more.

So, according to him a winged dragon has to have wings and front legs, not a gay combination of the two.

Doesn't matter, it's an imaginary creature in an imaginary world. A dragon is whatever the author wants it to be. In my imaginary world of Anonsanus this is a dragon.

Fuck you.

>words are meaningless goyim!

Some do, some don't. Yours don't.

blackpilled and based.

>A dragon is whatever the author wants it to be.

Yes, and tolkine wanted dragons to be like that, so it's shit that they changed Smaug for the movie.

In regards to fictional creatures in fictional stories, yes they are. They only exist as a shorthand between an audience and author, so that when an author says "Come quick, a dragon is burning down our village!", he knows the audience is going to imagine a large lizard breathing fire on everything. The particular location of the wings, or how low their balls hang, or whatever arbitrary nonsense to want to attach to the taxonomy of dragons is irrelevant.

That is why spyro the dragon and dark souls is pretty badass. Hell even dragon tales of all things get it right.

Dumb fag doesn't want to man up and admit he just got Wyverns confused for differently designed dragons and he wanted to run with the look. Stupid Coward needs to finish his fucking books.

Isn't the point of dragons that they're fantastical beasts? What's bad about them having fantastical traits? Why is four legs bad when they still breathe fucking fire and fly despite weighing many many tons?

This says nothing but confirms GRRM is a hack
>f-fictional thing is different from reality!
No shit George we don't like your story about zombies and magic because its a textbook adaptation of the war of the roses.

How can someone’s taste be this fucking bad?

I'm not taking sides here but to be fair ice of fire / game of thrones is renowned for combining fantasy with realism. It's still magic, but it's grounded in a way that makes it more believable for some.

They are the same thing
>but D&D
I SHIT ON D&D.
STOP HAVING YOUR WORLD VIEW BEING SCULPTED BY A SINGLE COMMERCIAL CORPORATION FOR NO REASON.
IN THEIR RULESET THEY ARE DIFFERENT, THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY HAVE TO BE DIFFERENT IN EVERY GAME, ACCORDING TO D$D RULES

why did this random jumpscare get put in

caught me off and still have trauma from that

It's funny how rigid so many people are with fantasy of all things.

This image always makes me so sad.

That final design doesn't mesh well together, what a clusterfuck of influences

The level of autism on this site over Smaug having wyvern wings when that movie released was unreal. The movies sucked though. Just rewatched LOTR recently for the first time in a decade and it really hit home just how shit the Hobbit movies are.

What a fucking retard.

dragonheart did it right

Billy Boyd's song almost justifies their existence though

the soundtrack was pretty good in general I suppose. I liked the Misty Mountain song in the first one too.
