Devs of many games make it pretty clear in ww2 related games that you're fighting the germans. Often even straight up propagate how evil and bad they were. So they don't have the problem with doing that, but why do they have a problem with adding a swastika then? It's the symbol thats ment to represent all the evils commited by them, why beat around the bush? Sure they used to have the "german market" excuse but since germany legalised having swastika in video games thats no longer on the table.
again, why do they do this? examples: hell let loose, day of infamy, call of duty ww2, men of war series.

Probably not everyone got the memo. And Germany only did this very recently. Pretty sure swastikas can be interpreted as illegal in Russia too, while it hasn't happened to vidya.

Reminds me when I read a ww2 horrible histories book when I was younger and it had a passage which tried to make you empathise with the germans and not to paint all of the soldiers as evil. I think BECAUSE there are zombies everywhere, they're more comfortable with the swastika everywhere. the imagery aside from it is so far removed from reality that it cancels it out.
Mostly, you see this is an issue in multiplayer modes where you play as nazis. they feel like there needs to be a degree of removal.

My guess is that they know that the swastika represents and embodies various qualities and hopes for the average modern white nationalist or National Socialist and devs don't want to give them the pleasure. Basically eradicate symbols that mean something for Europeans.
