I hate when that happens, I know when I suck (so most of the times actually)
I only shit on a game for being too bullshit after I beat it
This. Only that way can you truly understand the bullshit
This doesn't really work on Zig Forums though since you get a ton of (You)s claiming you're a casual even if you beat the bullshit on the hardest difficulty.
Provide some examples of bad game design and not something you could consider just personal taste
God I fucking love labradors
Trial and error instant death mechanics.
>Boulders that barrel down a staircase in .5 second in Souls games
>Invisible blocks in platformer games placed over jumps to kill you
>Platforms that collapse on touch with no indication or time to move
>games are so easy and braindead these days
>oh that game is just artificial difficulty and bad game design
>only way to beat the encounter is to prepare for the encounter
>you have no idea what the encounter is unless you've reached the encounter before (and most likely died to it)
>repeat forever until you defeat the final boss
Bioshock Infinite's decision to pair upgradable weapons with 2 weapon carry limits and top it all off with uneven weapon loadouts and forced weapon segments.
This kind of thing is the worst. Not one bad game mechanic, but a couple good mechanics that dont work together and make each other worse.
Weapon durability. Not one person likes it.
Every roguelike ever.
>monster has an instakill spell unless you are equipping a specific piece of equipment
>special monster is completely overpowered but spawns early
>you fall down a pit next to an instakilling monster
Half of the difficulty in these games are memorizing and mitigating the bullshit encounters.
Turret section.
meh, souls is such a forgiving game though, in fact, by DS2 i was so used to the bullshit i started seeing those traps coming a mile away.
bosses with are just extended invulnerability phases
extra ire if its possible to miss or underdamage a phase and have to do it again
porn/fetish games where all of the good shit is locked behind dying to enemies/letting them kill you
>plays JRPGs
>has opinions
>win
>like i always do
>wow this game is boring as fuck
>RPG forces you to play as a side character during a segment of the game that you might not have leveled up or geared at all
sure you did
people who care about animals should be taken advantage of for all their finances and then ignored
thank me later
These aren't necessarily bad game design/mechanics. What matters is the implementation. If the death is too punishing then I'm inclined to agree.
For instance, a game like Eryi's Action is entirely designed around random things killing you and the gameplay is about trying your best to predict and gather experience through trial and error to get through it. It's not my type of game, but there are certainly people who really enjoy it for what it is.
the triforce hunt in ww
>ESL monkey
>hates animals
checks out
>enemies have a random chance to instantly kill you in melee combat in a game where crits do not exist
>can see barrel from where you walk in
>enemies at top
>doesnt even instakill
the rest is valid but shit youd have to be retarded to miss that
?? nothing i said was wrong gramatically
also caring about even typing properly is a huge underage flag, lurk moar
I get depressed when I do bad at videogames.
it's hilarious how pet owners spend their time getting baited into wasting money irl, only to come on Zig Forums and get baited even harder
you truly have to be a smoothbrain to take care of these creatures
I hate this youtube future where everyone acts like they understand game and movie design and it makes the experience better. If you like something, you think it's awesome. If you don't, it sux. Why the fuck are you analyzing why an entertaining product is entertaining? You don't need to elevate your pleasure beyond what it is. It's like children trying to prove why their favorite toy would be the most powerful.
>Main character has been shown to climb over things, has explosives and is quite agile or otherwise superhuman
>Is barred from continuing by a waist high wall and has to basically go around the entire map to get to his destination
Now im not saying that just because you have a shotgun or rocket launcher means you should be able to just blast you way through a Resident Evil game for example to the very end, but there are just some unforgivable ones.
But ds have shit design
Because they are autistic and this kind of content is very appreciated by children
Overwatch designed itself around hero switching to make use of hero counters but then made you lose ultimate charge on hero swap and made ults powerful enough to make it significantly hurt the whole team to do so.
>line of sight is important in the game, but game has no indicator of the line of sight of your own dudes
Because people want to be correct in everything they do
>all those retarded replies that are just personal taste
Holy shit Zig Forums is so stupid.
Basically just the first two replies are good. Maybe also
>Lose
>"How the fuck is this supposed to work?"
>Don't like game
>"How the fuck is this supposed to work?"
>CRPG presents you with some form of non magical creature such as a bear
>You have no idea what the general power level of a "level 1" character in the setting is
>Have to guess whether you can actually kill a bear or not with no real information
>Repeat for every non magical creature you should logically be able to guage
>Boulders that barrel down a staircase in .5 second in Souls games
Look up the staircase and you can see the fucking boulder at the top with dudes behind it. You just blindly walked into a trap while staring at your fucking shoes, and you blame the game?
I like dark souls but having areas around dropping to lower platforms is fucking bad with how there are little to no mechanics around it outside of fall control. There are times you almost land on something only to become frictionless and fly into the void. It's not hard when you understand it but there is no way to figure it out without trial and error.
for some reason, most people tend to look down when moving around in video games. So they never see dangers above them.
