>I've never played a PS1 game: The Post
people who love this new ps1 trend have not been alive during ps1 times so how would they know
I just finished MGS1 too. Look at this video hurts me.
this is exactly what Playstation games look to zoomers
this is more accurate imo

Real gamers are playing video games, not watching stupid fucking Youtube videos, and not making stupid fucking threads.
This is how he 'simulated' it by the way.

Stylistically it's on point, from the texture warping, heavy aliasing, to the blocky hands and one-expression face.
not the same guy as OP
Lowpoly is life. I know its not spot on 1:1 like it used to have to be, but this kinda stuff is close enough approximation to make me smile.
It wasn't just texture warping, polygons would flutter between approximate values as the scene moved as well since geometry was transformed with truncated floating point in the PS1's fastest mode, and that's not simulated here.
I've played lots of PS1 games.
Looks more like one of those shitty 3D games you play on your internet browser rather than an actual PS1 game.
People who watch these videos are zoomers who never played a PS1 game in their life
>texture filtering
How can you get something so simple so wrong?
This could only be accurate if it was running on a ps1
Zoomers must think PS1 had shit awful animations or something. Have they never played a Tekken or Street Fighter EX game before? Or even a Crash Bandicoot game?
People who watch youtube dont
While it holds the aesthetic a PS1 could not keep that frame rate up for shit.
PS1 games had vertex shading and vertex lighting. Whoever made that animation used pixel lights and smoothing groups that would have never been set up like that on a PS1 character model. I didn't even own a PS1 and my brief exposure to my friends playing allowed me to recognize the difference.
Silent Hill and MGS had pretty stiff animation, to be fair.
It's attempting to emulate SH1/MGS you dungus
Crash Bandicoot is the extreme exception case because it uses vertex animations. Those in limited quantity can look just as good as modern multi-weight skeletal animations.
Tekken 3's animations were groundbreaking for its time and hadn't been topped for a while
The other guy obviously didn't even bother but T3 wasn't the standard
I mean it's way too detailed to get that frame rate on a real PS1, but otherwise it's surprisingly accurate.
no because normalfags have taken over the industry
the fucking irony
Compare the lighting of either of those two games against the youtube video
Pretty much just like in real game.
Yeah I'm sure Konami used flat shading to make things look worse than they really are
>talking about animation
>"but the lighting though"
relax
I tried making a ps1 style model recently, can't unwrap my head around how to do a UV map properly.
Looks more like a phone game just before smartphones
