Is there any truth at all to Starcraft originally intending to be a Warhammer 40k game?

Sounds like bullshit people made up

seems obvious
notice the similiarities in halo's storyline and starcraft as well?

no, it was true with warcraft originally intended to be a warhammer game, but that was axed very early in development.

if anything 40k took from starcraft in its zerg designs for nu-nids.

They literally got sued for both War and Starcraft by Games Workshop, so yeah.

Starcraft was the only good game Blizzard ever made

No, it's made up nonsense by Warhammer fanboys they had already distanced themselves from Games Workshop with Warcraft.

If it was 40k then who the fuck were the protoss supposed to be?

Most likely Eldar. Imperium, Eldar and Nids... 40k Rites of War?

The entire thing has turned around due to blizz becoming popular so now warhammer tries to be wow and starcraft 2

Yes. Anyone who says otherwise is a retarded faggot who knows nothing of anything on the subject.

you weren't even alive when starcraft came out know your place

I used to think of it as a rival to the star war franchise lore wise
now I realize it's shallow as dirt

Both of those franchises are shallow as dirt. Star Wars only exists to sell toys to children.

God the original aesthetics were so fucking great, probably the worst change in style in 2 was fucking up the carrier look

>remember when they were pushing tyranids on us

please dont remind me

But there isn't a single unit that looks like something from the Eldar roster.

Warcraft was meant to be and they had to change it at the last moment. Starcraft was always meant to be it's own thing.

Warhammerfags also pretend they "ripped off" Warhammer, not realising Warhammer itself is a ripoff of popular fantasy and sci-fi books/movies like LotR and Starship Troopers

How the fuck did it take until Total War and Vermintide for WHF to finally get decent games?

Nah, it's a confusion from Warhammer and Warcraft being in that position (that one is verifiable, just look up the blog by ex-Blizzard lead).
Over time, though, plenty of people equated Warhammer with Warhammer 40k and in an era where Dawn of War existed and Total War: Warhammer did not, many people ended up looking for similarities with 40k.
And since both Starcraft anf 40k are giant IP infringement cases, they found and rationalised the newly morphed story to themselves.

dark omen

Dark Omen was arse and you know it.

still better than shadow of the horned rat

Metzen kinda said nope
He's also a huge 40k neckbeard who plays Guard and Marines, and he's into old 40k stuff

cant be.Warhammer 40k is shit. It's a shit IP by stupid people for stupid people.
Broodwar is the best game for clever people

>calling Dark Omen SHIT
How to spot a certain Vampire faggot, the post.

Not by looks, but their tech and theme

The blizzardfags are laughable
Now they are ripping off even The Elder Scrolls with Diablo 4, Immortal and even WoW.

This, Also geedubs loved the zerg so much that they changed the old atrocity that it was the old nids model.
Though Blizzard admited that Some of the Zerg designs, mainly the ultralisk were made out of The old Carnifex models

Now if Someone could leak the Source code from EA's offices or find a copy of it along with SOTHR.
The only reason that GoG didnt updated those or released dark omen yet is mostly because of copyright and the source code.

SOTHR has aspect ratio issues

Warhammer openly derives themes from LotR and Starship Troopers, it is unlike Blizz ripping off a modern franchies.

Warcraft Was going to be a Warhammer Fantasy game, but contractual shenanigans drove GW to EA/Mindscape and SSI.
The later made solid legendary 40k games.

Mainly SSI, fuck their magic with 40k, its kino!
youtube.com/watch?v=LOi3CzZjV0M
Also if it wasn't for Mindscape EA, we wouldn't had got Total War, Also if it wasn't for SSI with Chaos Gate, we would had never got its polished gameplay into Modern xcom.

Old Blizzard still had Soul, but Jews and French Jews aka Vivendi and its Family, ruined the company, with activision being satan closing the deal.

It was partially true, I believe it was Blizzard who approached Games Workshop to make a video game version of Warhammer Fantasy, the early prototype build failed to impress GW, they pulled the license, Blizzard refluffed things to make Warcraft. And then they decided to make a Sci-Fi adaption of it at some point, so the similarities to 40k were pretty strong, especially when compared to the Rogue Trader era.

However, the original incarnation of the Tyranids were quite different than the Zerg, with some models actually using HR Giger style bioweapons (Like literal rifles detached from their bodies) and overall had a different, less popular aesthetic. Over the years, 40k nids eventually started drawing from Zerg and other hivemind species in fiction. Protoss could be considered similar to the Eldar, but in reality there's so many Elder race aliens that look like advanced primitives that it's hard to really call them that. And Terrans draw harder from the Alien series than Space Marines from 40k.

It's sometimes curious to think what would've happened to Blizzard had GW instead given their blessing and Blizzard never owned the Warcraft and Starcraft IPs. Warcraft 3 would've been massively different, Starcraft might be mechanically similar but with far different lore, and the MMO might've never existed, might've existed as a different IP (Perhaps a Blizzard created one without GW ties), or might've been a 40k MMO. Either way, Blizzard would still have their money, but they wouldn't have owned the IP for Warhammer, so they'd still be subject to GW's calls on how to do the story or have to abandon it and make their own IPs anyway.

Even if Starcraft was "stolen" from 40k, the Kropulu sector's setting ended up more interesting and fun than Warhammer 40k lore.
Prove me wrong.

I remember when Mass Effect 1 came out and I thought we had the potential for an honest to god video game version of Star Wars. Boy did that go wrong.
