So what does Nintendo actually have for us in 2020? Paper Mario was disappointing, Animal Crossing was solid but lacked content at launch and probably won't be up to the level of New Leaf for another year, what else is there for us this year? A re-release of a 7 year old game? Is that really fucking it?
This is the dryest spell we've ever been in as Nintendo fans, including the Wii U era. At least when the Wii U was out, there were solid 3DS games being released pretty regularly, and at least the Wii U had original titles primarily, the Switch has been primarily Wii U ports recently. Now the Switch Eshop is being flooded with shovelware and we have nothing to look forwards to in the short-term.
>inb4 covid 19 excuses Sony is still releasing major titles like Ghosts of Tsushima and Last of Us 2 despite COVID-19 and they will be launching a new console. Also major indie games like Fall Guys are completely skipping the Switch for PS4, making the walls of garbage shovelware in the Eshop even more inexcusable. Regardless of what you think of those games, Playstation fans have a lot more to play right now.

>Playstation fans have a lot more to play right now. And yet, you are here. Making threads like this.
Ryan Torres
You sound like a bitch.
Connor Barnes
I'm literally a Switch player. I don't even own a ps4
Lucas Martinez
Nothing good for the rest of the year (although I'm excited to play Sunshine for the first time with 3D All-Stars), but BOTW 2 in the first half of next year will make up for it.
David Morris
I don't know about nintendo first party games, but as far as things coming for the switch, the rest of the year is pretty full for me and I'm excited for it. At least 1 games I care about a month all the way to December. Sometimes more.
Jose Carter
Okay, I am just looking for something to be excited for on Switch this year and the only thing seems to be a 7 year old port of Pikmin 3 that will likely be 60 dollars just like Tropical Freeze was. I am excited for BotW 2 but that's definitely 2021, Nintendo had a great year in 2017 and some great games like Smash and AC since then but the short/mid-term future looks incredibly bleak.

>op makes a thread about nintendo games >first reply is a post about sony
I know that the 3D mario games are supposedly confirmed but I really want Nintendo to confirm them soon, it's already August. I'm legitimately excited to play mario 64 on my switch but again it's a port and I would really like focus on new titles. can you list some of those games? I'm looking for shit to be excited about on Switch this fall.
Ryan Wood
Well, I have both and I bought only 4 ''new'' games this year. >Xenoblade >RE3 remake >FF7 remake >Void Terrarium This year isn't better for PS4.
Jason Miller
you say they dropped the ball but they just published like a 400% increase in profits or something
We might be bored out of our skulls with nothing new to play and almost no updates or directs but why would they care when they're making fuckloads of money anyway
Jayden Green
The first post was also me, OP. I just wanted to pre-empt people making excuses for the lack of content this year because the utter lack of content seems pretty specific to Nintendo right now. I was hoping 2017 was an example of what Nintendo would be if they merged their handheld/console development into one platform, several great original titles but this year has been super weak besides Animal Crossing.

The post you quoted was written by OP, user.

I mean buying the RE3 remake and FF7 remake says a lot more about your judgement than the quality of the games this year
Josiah Hernandez
>dropped the ball >console selling like crazy >AC 22 million sales yeah they sure are struggling this year.
Austin Myers
Yeah they're making tons of money especially with AC. But yeah, I'm bored as fuck with my switch and I haven't been any other year since launch.
Benjamin Phillips
Does the Switch really need games?
Ethan Wood
user, I don't think you knew this when you posted, that was OP.
Samuel Sullivan
I mean it's a game console so yeah
Xavier Campbell
Oh, sorry. Next time, I'll ask you what should I buy and what should I avoid.
Jordan Hall
good idea
Aiden Williams
>They really expected Animal Crossing to carry the whole year
I'm a Nintenchad but as someone who got bored of that game within a week it's not really enough, even if it did sell a ridiculous amount. XCDE was good too but you kind of need more games to fill out a year. The fact there wasn't even a Direct either is weird.
Hudson Kelly
It's another Zig Forums faggot is mindlessly screeching at FF7R episode.

The heavy hitting properly starts on October but this month there's FF Crystal Chronicles and the port of that Konosuba dungeon crawler that released on vita last year. Useful for me cuz I'd rather play it on switch instead of my vita. September has the sequel of that. October has Mary Skelter Finale and pic related which is a game I've been waiting several years for, as well as Shin Megami Tensei 3. November has Sakuna Hime, the second game this year that I've been waiting several years for (with the third being the sequel of Labyrinth of Refrain also on November but sadly that's vita for some reason). December has the Utawarerumono colab and also Atelier Ryza 2.
>inb4 I don't like dungeon crawlers and/or I can't read Japanese so those don't count
I don't get this obsession with new releases, whether it's PS, Nintendo or Xbox. Like every single month of a year *has* to have a AAA blockbuster. As long as a console has two or three 9/10+ games in its entire 6-7 year lifespan, it's good enough for me. I have a huge backlog of high quality old games, and I have a lot of fun going through that during what other people call "dry spells". Why do you HAVE to only play a game that was released in the current year? You'll even see this with remasters; there'll be older games which are easily emulatable or on Steam, but when they get a 1:1 port people are like "finally, I can play this game" even though they always could, only because it's now current for a brief window again.
I picked up my switch last week. I have enough entertainment for now. Hardware sales and attach rates are at the point where third parties can't ignore it like they did with the Wii U. Also Nintendo will pick up soon.
Christopher Phillips
it's anime garbage with a shit story

B-B-B-BUT CORONA! CORONA STOPPING DEVELOPMENT, THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE, PLEASE UNDERSTANDU

many studios are finding work from home progress to be just as fast as normal development.
Nintendo obviously wasn't prepared for work from home, but they're not even working from home anymore, Tokyo's lockdown was very brief and I don't even know what Kyoto's was like
