First time I fought him I carted once and took 20 mins to kill him. Then I figured out the positioning to avoid his ice breath and killed him in less than 10 minutes, it was a fun fight I guess. Definitely prefer fighting this version than regular Barioth

The amount of shit you can cram on your sets starts getting ridiculous.

at first barioth difficulty comes from tthe retarded jump when he runs and does a good portion of damage and the one jump he does when she stops flying

Finally tried fighting Alatreon (only my second kill though) using a cb and damn it was easy compared to when i first killed it using an elemetal hbg. Took like 3 attempts where i kept getting knocked on my ass and killed but after that alatreon became so much easier since you are close enough to it and learned to easily avoid those few attacks it does

This barioth is a lot more entertaining, but the cave it starts in is cancer.
Once it's out it's fun, beat it with GS a lot easier than I do barioth because it's less of a spergy cunt, just wish it had more health or something, but I guess that's my alatreon PTSD speaking.

i liked the cave since it limits its jumping and it is an interesting chance of pace. a bit like fighting temp zinogre in that tight tunnel in that deco event quest. Aoe attacks become cancer but is is interesting
Otherwise the fight was fun but obviously pretty easy at this point of game progression

The camera is NOT ready to work in such tight spaces beacuse it jumps all over the place and half the time barioth ends up on you.

punishing draw is just a bonus for slapper set, I never claimed that it applies to the tackle or slap moves, lol. It just means that now you get stun buildup on 70% of your moves as opposed to 50% of them, so more KOs.

I only recently started Iceborne. What the fuck did they do to brute wyverns? I was fighting lightning anjanath and acid glaveanus and all they did was jump back and forth. Glaveanus in particular was annoying because he was too tall to hit the tail, so I basically couldn't punish that move, and that's all he fucking did.

They've fucked the AI somewhere down the update line and acknowledged it, they spam that jump to any target slightly far away making them even bigger shit mins.
They've promised an AI fix and haven't delivered it though.

It's a bug that's getting fixed in a few days. It only happens if you have a palico though

What weapon are you using?

Switch axe....trying to get a decent Kjarr one upgraded/augmented but I hear you want ice and I've only gotten fire and dragon to drop so far.

I've never really had to fuck with elemental switch axes before now so I don't even know where to begin, I've always used a blast or paralysis one.

Not him but Turbo Efficiency Hammer Autism-Fag here. Use Agi Secret from Brachy set, Use Lightbreak Hammer, Hammer's Status/Ele is so terribly bad that it's never worth using either of those sans blast. Slugger is a meme ability don't bother as is evade extender. Also if you are really intent on safi-ing use resentment, it's op.

Fucking boomer cat made me eat a cart when he did the V shaped frost breath. I dodged the first breath and having evade extender i ended stepping the Rime of the second breath and then i was at his mercy

Also, do any of the armor skills work on his frost breath shit? Like muck resistance or whatever?

switch axe is a great choice for alatreon and really fun to fight him with, but make sure you slot in some evade window (I'd even favor it over evade extender for this fight)
in my experience it's extremely hard to double and triple topple with switch axes because of the high elemental requirements but if you're just going for a clear you'll be fine. You can use dragon against him in solo and it shouldn't be too disruptive, that should be one topple in dragon mode.

Lightbreak Hammer is very shitty for non-tranny touch sets. Agi Secret is only superb for the affinity which is not needed in this case. Slugger does help a lot online where getting even a few knockdowns can be obnoxious and Resentment is typically harder to fit in than plain good ol' attack boost.
Safi set is amazing for the hammer because every multi-hit you launch heals you which includes every spin2win and you never have a reason to sheathe, nobody uses it for status buildup, really, although getting a few paralysis procs per hunt online is helpful as fuck.

If you can, try crafting his own SA, its better than the Dragon Kjarr one, put on 5pc Safi, get Health Augment so the health drain doesnt put you in any danger and get the Dragon Attack to the highest level, that should do the trick.

Sup Hammerbro. I recommend 3 Piece Safi, 2 Piece Brachy for max Agitator secret. Use the Fury Charm instead for lvl5 resentment. The damage boost of both is better than Attack boost.
I also alternate between Bindcrusher and Lightbreak Hammer depending the monster so it's good. Paralysis does proc atleast once so it's kinda useful. Use the rest of the skills for your affinity and crit. And anything extra you want.

Fire should work almost just as well. Haven't really used swagaxes so can't say for sure but going with fire to ice mode alatreon might be easier than fire since those ice attacks are far less dangerous when up close and just dodging to the side. Fire has one or two attacks that can easily kill you if you aren't paying attention
Phial damage should make it easy enough to knock down alatreon and axe mode is good for flailing on the legs and head and dodging out of the way when needed? Dunno how good axe mode is in iceborne

So is KO King/Slugger or whatever it's called now finally a good skill with World giving it more tiers?

I saw the multipliers earlier for dragon damage and it looked like a handicap but I guess I've got nothing to lose by trying that. I'll just fail with plunderblade on till I can make the weapon and see what happens (haven't gotten a fucking mantle from horn breaks yet tho, hopefully that happens soon.)

False, it at most adds 1 stun ever and doesn't improve your hunt time. Focus on more damage for knockdowns and mounts and you do much much better

You're a dumdum. Even if you lose the purple it's still the highest raw white sharpness hammer (bar maxed out Safi). And the slots on it are absolutely ridiculous. What fucking weapon are (You) using with non-MT Hammer sets?

Not really and it probably never will be unfortunately. Also we live in a world where LBG is the best KO weapon somehow

Encores to Attack Up L, which is a 15% boost compared to XL's 20% boost. You lose very little and you make up for the loss with purple sharpness and high element.
