Silent Hill 4 did nothing wrong

Even by SH standards the gameplay in 4 is fucking atrocious. Had some of the best spoops in the series though, which makes it worth a playthrough.

Escort mission was a mistake. Otherwise it's probably the scariest SH for me.

I thought the monkey enemies were dumb but the exact moment I hit this enemy I just stopped caring about the game and honestly did not feel scared anymore, what the fuck were they thinking with this burp sound?

The whole child prison/panopticon thing was cool.

It looks completely wrong like everything is on the wrong scale. The only thing about the game that looks good is the first person apartment segments.

Great atmosphere ruined by a 2nd half that is just rehashing all the areas you already visited. Just now its a shitty escort quest.

You forgot that the second half wasn't just God awful escorting, it was also backtracking and escorting through previous levels

Its honestly the scariest SH next to SH1.
Theres something about SH4 that unnerves me a lot. The cameras feel different, the sounds are different, something feels different to SH3 and 2, but it is pretty unsettling.

Its not terrible, but its very much a disheveled mess of a game.
The concept of the ghosts was pretty cool, rest of the enemies sucked, and the backhalf of the game is literally just a marathon of trudging through previously visited locations while Kurt Cobain randomly appears to blow you the fuck out.
And Henry is just awful.
