Have you ever scammed someone or been scammed in a MMO? Which scam?

I'm gonna post in a second, it's on page 10 and don't want it to die as typing

>Back in middle school on runescape
>Get a random event with those shape boxes that double in your inventory to fight botters
>Solve the puzzle and get a ruby
>Already had a ruby in my inventory, so this means it doubled the ruby
>Go in falador mine and get the puzzle box
>Start begging people for their rune pickaxe
>Find one person in a weird spot mining in the middle of both entrances far from any bank
>Ask him for his rune pickaxe and explain his story, swear I'm not scamming
>They say ok but god is watching me
>Open the puzzle box and get some other crap
>Just tell them it didn't work and gave it back

The fact that people still fall for scams in osrs is depressing.

In runescape I would answer people buying/selling rune weapons by putting the money/item up in the trade menu first then while they're putting their items up I'd just take it down and press accept and maybe 1/3 of the time the other person wouldn't notice and hit accept when I had nothing on my side so I'd get it for free and run away

>Middle school and got membership, fell in love with gimmicky areas like karamja, wilderness, and the desert
>Get poisoned by those tribesmen on karamja, the poison damage hits 11
>I'm freaking out because home tele isn't a thing yet, find a knife and eat the islands pineapples sliced up to survive slowly
>Get an idea after I survive this a few times, figure others won't
>Lure people from ardounge to there via the ship. have plenty of cakes with me for food
>Some dude was in full white armor and had a white staff, this is fancy quest locked shit so I think he's rich
>Lure him and he gets poisoned and dies
>Also had a 100k cash stack on him, I don't remember if I convinced him to do this or not
>He pms me frantically wanting his stuff back, this is the most I've ever got from this lure
>I feel bad and give him most of his stuff back, I think I kept something dumb like the gloves or boots
Think that was the last time I ran that scam. Later the poison was nerfed to do 6 damage instead of 11 because they were insane casual filters

These people lured me one time with 10k gold in wildy. Dum dums didn't teleblock me though so it was my 10k gold.

It's a pretty stupid story but really cringe noneoftheless, ending still makes me laugh sometimes

>we both jokingly agree and i promise him to give him money for a rp session
>he invites us and his 2 friends( who are both retarded to his in-game house
>me and the guy feed him rp lines while we dance
>he gives us 200k
>rp time starts
>the guy thats with me bails out early after a few lines, doesn't give him money
>i stay behind and keep at it to see how long it last
>it goes on for about an hour, guys 2 friends are gone until guy ask me for money
>i give him a half assed reply and leave, leaving him by himself
>dont see him after that
>mfw when the "seduce people for money" scam isnt a meme
>mfw it was easier than upsetting the trade market with underpriced items

a person I called friend on Runescape over a decade, him and I would occasionally lend our items, and with the free trade being canned it was a lot more difficult to do so. One day he asked for my Bandos set so he can go do slayer while I went to school, never heard from him since.

A dude in lumbridge told me that if I stand on top of an item and press alt+f4, it will duplicate the item.
Nigga got my bronze axe. In my defense I was like 8 at the time.
Also got lured into wilderness one time and killed, don't remember what I lost though.

Welp. I did kill them afterwards on my other character. One of the rare times I got scammed.

You sure it was that friend? Might have been hacked. Who would ruin a decade old friendship for money/items?

back when runescape was original runescape all of the swords looked the same when they were equipped. I told a player I was holding a rune 2h and would trade him for his rune scimmy. We chatted for a bit and I convinced him how good and how cool 2h were and we eventually traded. I threw up the dagger and hit accept immediately and I guess he either didn’t notice or didn’t care but he traded me his scimmy for a dagger. Mind you this was when rune was the best in the game so it was kind of a big deal. I also armor trimmed about 6 people

>got about 40 people to join
>log out
lock me up!

he still logs in on rs3, confronted him and he apologized, but never gave my shit back. That was like 70m at the time

the fact that people call RuneScape 2 “old school” is depressing

i sold my runescape account for habbo hotel items and then used recovery questions to get it back

I fell for the stupid "I'll help you level up your account" on my first year playing runescape, what amuzes me the most is that the scammer didn't even take any of my items, he just changed my password and left it there until I recovered the account. When I confronted him about it he just told me he got bored of training my account and decided to play a trick on me, somehow we became very good friends soon after
